Vehicle Detail

I'm not going to spend too much time on this one since the market is not kind to these old wagons. If you are interested and want specific pics I'll be glad to email them to you. This requires a special buyer and to be honest I haven't had much luck on craigslist or the mopar forums. 129,000 mi. 440ci 4bbl Torqueflite automatic It has a brand new set of tires on it, has to be less than 5 miles on them. The car was sitting for a number of years, and a new set of tires was required just to get it on the car hauler. It's been in KY for 6 years, garaged the entire time up here, yet hasn't been on the road since the early to mid 90's. It sat outside for a number of years in FL, It's pretty rough cosmetically. It runs, but not well, The carb was cleaned a few years ago, and I'm sure needs it again. Looking under the hood you can tell my dad was fond of it, and a tinkerer. You can see the electric fan, the brass hard line for the radiator overflow, neatly bent and anchored with cushioned clamps, same with the heater hoses, aluminum angle straightener or stiffener on the power steering pump, just little things that no one else would do to an old station wagon. I also have a set of brand new in the box cast aluminum valve covers that will go with the car. Low reserve, less than the cost of the tires and valve covers alone. On Feb-05-12 at 14:13:00 PST, seller added the following information: Superbowl Sunday Update I changed the spark plugs and it starts easily and runs smooth! It will need a set of wires, one of the boots is split. I drove it around the neighborhood. Engine responds instantly with no hesitation. The brakes work, the power seat works, the lights work, all the gauges work, however the speedometer cable needs to be lubricated, it was bouncing between 0 and 60 mph. For those asking about driving it some distance, I noticed one of the valve covers was leaking oil onto the exhaust manifold, this is no doubt why there is a new set of cast aluminum valve covers, the thin sheet metal must be warped or maybe just needs new gaskets. The engine seems to be running great now, as long as it doesn't ingest a big chunk of rust or something I have confidence in it (never did pull the tank) The transmission only went into reverse one out of 5 tries, drove forward fine and shifted through all the gears. On Feb-06-12 at 15:34:36 PST, seller added the following information: I've taken a couple more pics and some videos to help represent this car. I've had many many questions, and a surprising amount of general interest, hopefully the video walk around will answer a lot of questions. I will head this off before someone questions the steering wheel taken apart. I have all of the parts for the horn buttons and center cap, In fact I just learned there is a brand new set of horn buttons never installed. If I had to guess, my dad was only able to get them in black, (new from the dealer) which doesn't match, so it was just left apart. After looking at them closely, he probably intended to take the tan rubber button covers off and swap them with the brand new switches. This can be done and then you will have the correct color pads on the brand new switches, I guess he just never got around to it. I knew he wasn't the original owner, however there is extensive detailed documentation and service records back to 1983. The valve covers are Very nice, there is a new set of gaskets too, (they could be swapped out here before your drive home) I'm sure little things will pop up since the car has been sitting so long, but I honestly didn't think it would run that well and drive with such little work. Based on that, the horn parts, and the detailed records, I regret not listing a higher reserve, but some of this information is new to me since I placed the ad. Bid accordingly and keep the questions coming! Cold start. Warmed up idle Walk aroundOn Feb-06-12 at 17:11:07 PST, seller added the following information: Driving Oil leakOn Feb-07-12 at 14:35:46 PST, seller added the following information: Another update Found the Owner's manual today. I also took the tailgate apart. I lubed all the linkage from the inner and outer handles, all the latches, window lockout mechanism, and the window tracks and linkage. The window now goes up and down fully, and the tail gate opens freely in both directions.
