Up for auction is a my 1/2 ton Chevrolet Pick-Up that has a clear California Title showing 1945 model. I retrieved this truck last year in Arizona and the previous owner told me that it has been in Arizona all it's life and was bought during the war years with a permit allowing it to be purchased for farm use. It's evident that this is a dry climate vehicle since there is no evidence of rust out. The seller did have an Arizona Title that showed a 1945 model but no proof that is was permitted for farm use as he said it was. I even doubted the fact that it was in fact a 1945, after all...GM only built 6500 or so 1/2 ton trucks that year because of the war. But after doing some investigating on my own I found that the only differences on the1945 vs. years prior and years after is because of lack of filler material GM simply welded the tops on these trucks with neatly exposed welds as this truck has on the pillar posts and the boot around the fuel neck was a leather collar instead of rubber because of lack of rubber material. This has the metal ring around the filler but the leather is gone. So I guess it is a 1945. This 67 year old truck runs and moves on it's own but you'll need to bring a 6 volt battery to start in because I loaned the battery to my nephew and never got it back and it must be trailered because there are no brakes..zero..the pedal go's to the floor although the emergency brake works. It is what it is..the bed is a little rough as is the right front fender (showing some bondo) but it wouldn't take much to make it road worthey. The winning bid is responsible for picking up this vehicle and there is no warranty of any kind on this vehicle. No mechanical work can be done on my property.
