Vehicle Detail
This is a very solid great running Studebaker with bullet proof V8 engine that has been rebuilt. It has dual exhaust with glass packs that make it sound great, Studbaker engines have their own sound. The body is very solid and rust free with the exception of the 4 doors they have rust in them. They are repairable, but NOS doors are still available for these cars. I can put anyone in touch that would like to buy NOS doors if desired. It is yard driveable, the brakes need some attention from sitting. The interior is good, the headliner needs replacement see photos. The dash is good, I was told it was replaced with a 1965 dashboard. It has an AM FM tape player that works good, there is a huge speaker in the trunk that can be taken out it's not mounted just sitting in there. Tires are good radials with decent tread. i have some history on the car that I can provide if the new owner wants it. Apparently it was rebuilt and bored out to 301 c.i. for someone's daughter. The front seats are not original bucket seats that are very comfortable and manually tilt and recline they match the interior very well and go great with the original rear seat. Carpets have been replaced when the work was done to it years ago. I was told the doors rusted due to the drain holes in the bottom of them getting plugged up unfortunately which explains why the rest of the car is so solid. Bid with confidence, and check my feedback I list all my items as accurately as possible. This is a great car that could use some tinkering, it rides like a chariot very smoothly, unlike the newer cars of today. Ask any questions you might have and if anyone wants any close up pix just ask. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. I should mention that the panels on this car are all straight, no signs of bondo on this car anywhere. The doors close super smoothly like a bank vault with little to no effort at all. This car was repainted white when the work was done it was originally brown as you can see in the photo of the door jamb. You can also see that there is no rust in the door jambs at the pillar and rocker panel where there usually is. The white paint is a little thin, but it's certainly a driver the way it is after the brakes are addressed and some tinkering is done to it. There is also a photo of the temperature guage with the engine running and fully warmed up so you can see the oil pressure is great. The headliner is not a big dollar item to replace, I wish I had time to tinker with this car and enjoy it some. It's never going to happen so it's time for it to move on, I really had plans to enjoy this car a little. I found the information on this car that I got when I bought this car here as follows. This should help anyone wanting to know more about this car. Following is a description of what was done to this car when the work was done a few years ago in the words of the guy that did the work. That car is the one I bought for my beloved daughters 16th birthday back in 97. She loved it and I rebuilt the engine completely with new pistons, bearings, and head regrind, etc. It is a 289 bored .060" over with dish pistons. Also painted it the whimebelton white. Rear seat is original but I installed the front buckets which match very nicely. Dash was bad but I gave the buyer a like new dash (65 I believe) and apparently it has been installed. Rear was 3.31 but not a twin. My daughter drove this car all through high school. They were known as the "Studebaker sisters." She is now married and teaches high school. My time flies but the memories live on. I haven't seen the car since 2000 but glad it is still around. As an aside, back in 98 I put a AFB on it (with some small Goodyear slicks) and tested it at the track and it went 16.84 @ 82. Even with a 2 barrel it was a real sleeper. Can't vouch for the running condition now but hopefully the oil has been changed regularly and it will continue to roll on the rest of the century. Seriously with a little tinkering this is a car that can be made to be whatever you want it to be. As you can see by the fellow's own words it would take only a little to make it a very nice car. The serious work has already been done, if you are going to buy a car and want to tinker this is the one. On Feb-04-12 at 16:40:55 PST, seller added the following information: I went out and started this car today, it started right up no problem at all. I also took some pictures of the undercarriage to show how solid the frame and passenger floor is as well as the trunk floor. There is no rust or rotted areas anywhere, I tried to upload some pictures into the listing and I wasn't able to unfortunately. If anyone wants photos of the undercarriage send me your email address and I can send them to you. This car is totally solid, and it runs great with the rebuilt engine. On a side note the exhaust appears to be new or stainless steel not sure, but it's very solid and in excellent condition. Thanks for all the questions about this car, and good luck bidding on it.
