FIRST TIME OFFERING ** 1960 CHEVROLET SUNTAN COPPER 2 DOOR BEL AIR EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION!! Chevrolet used a more conservative approach in 1960 with JET SMOOTH lines, evident with the aircraft inspired side trim. The new look for 1960 was glamorous, as Chevrolet reshaped and separated the "bat wing" tail fins, and added round tail lights to the rear. The post top 2 door Bel Air, like the one offered here, has increased in value more than any other model. Its 'down to business attitude' rests in the fact that it has a look all its own. From the smaller rear window, air craft side moldings and its "I'm ready for take off stance", it reaches top rank. THE 1960 CHEVROLET BECAME THE BEST SELLING AUTOMOBILE IN THE COUNTRY AND HELD THAT POSITION FOR A DECADE. HISTORY OF CHEVROLET One of the worlds best selling cars was started by cigar smoking William Crapo Durant, a prominent carriage builder, in collaboration with race car driver, Louis Chevrolet, on November 3, 1911. Chevrolet entered the market to compete with the Ford model T. The first offering was the "classic six". It was too expensive so Durant went to a small four cylinder simple car calling it "The Little Four". The first major impact came with the 4- cylinder BABY GRAND touring car. and its companion roadster model the ROYAL MAIL. Sales went from 13,600 to 70,701. Next came the famous 'BOW TIE' . It was trademarked in 1913 and became the most recognizable automobile emblem in the world. GM acquired Chevrolet in 1917. In 1929, the "cast iron wonder" was introduced, a 3.2 liter international 6. Over one million were sold in the first year at $595. Amazing.........the engine continued to be manufactured until 1953. By 1927, Chevrolet out sold Ford. For the next 55 years Chevrolet was the top selling American automobile. APPLE PIE AND CHEVROLET.......A TRADITION. More than any other automobile, Chevrolet designs and features has pushed the industry to new standards of excellence. THIS 1960 CHEVROLET BEL AIR I want to show you the entire car step by step to the best of my ability. No attempt will be made to cover up or hide anything. I will offer my opinions and evaluations starting with the interior. Included are 70 close up pictures. Enclosed is a picture of the car resting in front of the Summerfield estate. In its later years the car was driven to shows and an occasional cruise. The fine automobile offered here is in exceptional condition. Only a few come up to its quality. It was built in Flint and was sold by the most recognizable Chevrolet dealer in the world...........Summerfield Chevrolet. The car still carries the original Summerfield Chevrolet emblem. It has survived for 52 years in close to its original condition. The speedometer reads 80,000 miles and it is believed to be accurate, averaging just 1500 miles per year. This is a highly original car. It was always garaged and not driven in inclement weather. The carpets, seats, door panels and all of the interior show close to new and are original. Even the rear shelf shows close to new. The dash, gauges, steering wheel and horn ring are close to new. The original radio is in place and it works. The original owners manual is in the glove box. My, how times have changed. The glove box light was an option. Notice the exceptional condition of the box. The trunk is very close to new, original in every way. It is completely dry , solid and rust free. Under the hood you will find the original 283 engine dressed up for show. It runs, drives and shifts just like it should. There are zero surprises here. The whole engine compartment gleams and shines like the rest of the car. Notice the firewall and inner fenders. They did not look any better when new. This is a complete engine compartment, nothing is missing. High marks are given here for its excellent condition. The exterior has the very best color. Two door post Bel Air's are seldom seen, especially in Suntan Copper. It just fits the car and its aggressive attitude. People stop and stare in order to take a second look. Brand new Torq Thrust rims add a wonderful new adventure to the exterior. The sound exiting from the new Flowmaster exhaust is almost as exciting as the car itself. The original color Suntan Copper paint has great depth and color. There are no dents, bubbles, sags or rust. The body is razor straight. All of the panels fit properly and meet or exceed Manufacturers standards. The doors are in excellent condition and show the original factory seams and fit like a lady's glove. There is absolutely no rust.! The chrome and bright trim fit properly and are very good to excellent. The under carriage is original. It is dry, solid and free of rust. Very few 1960 Chevrolet come close to this condition. This is a first time offering just in time for a full season of fun.
