Vehicle Detail
This is a really nice original example of a very desirable automobile. It was originally delivered new in Los Angeles and spent most of its life in southern California. It has every option available in 1950, including 'Sombrero' full wheel covers, white wall tires, signal seeking radio with power antenna, fog lamps, windshield washer and deluxe underseat heater and defroster. It was received as a high school graduation gift by the woman from whom I bought the car. I have that bill of sale. I purchased the car in 1997 and have driven it only about 200 miles since. The car has only 86084 original miles from new. It is in very good condition throughout as you would expect from such a low mileage vehicle. All chrome and stainless trim is in very good original condition. The brake system has been rebuilt with new cylinders, hoses and shoes. I also replaced the cowl to hood and trunk rubber moldings as well as most other rubber moldings and bumpers. It was painted about six years ago and it has always been garaged. The interior is mostly original and is in very good condition. The wonder bar type radio was restored, but it still doesn't work correctly. The original boot cover is in nearly perfect condition. The top appears new with no tears anywhere. The top control valve was rebuilt and new top lift cylinders have been installed. A rebuilt fuel pump that can handle today's fuel was installed. The power windows and seats work correctly and the original hydraulic pump was rebuilt and has new mounts installed. Headlights, tail lights, turn signals, interior lights and trunk light all work. The defroster and underseat heater both function properly. I have just installed a new Optima battery. A new boot cover bag is included. The car starts, drives and stops very well. 1950 was the second year of Cadillac's new 331 cubic inch overhead valve V-8 engine which makes 160 horsepower at 3800 RPM. Standard equipment on the Series 62 is the very reliable four speed Hydra-Matic transmission, This great survivor requires nothing to be driven and enjoyed. I am including some extra parts I have acquired over the years, including a new original stock Delco Remy regulator, new hydraulic pump solenoid, new wiper blades, carb rebuild kit, spare turn signal/fog light assembly, visor mirror, new top handle and both the 1950 Cadillac shop manual and Cadillac Serviceman bulletins for 1950. None of these parts are needed but are included as future replacements for the new owner's convenience. I am happy to store the car in my heated garage for a reasonable time while domestic or overseas shipping is scheduled. Please email any questions you may have and thank you for considering my Cadillac.
