Vehicle Detail
1985 Mercedes Benz 300TD Turbo Diesel Wagon- Rust free, third row seats, immaculate condition Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This beautiful wagon has recently undergone a restoration of sorts. I use the term restoration loosely here; I do not want to give the impression that I went crazy and rebuilt the car from the ground up to museum quality condition. But what I did do was take an already nice, well maintained, solid, rust free wagon and made it outstanding. I put lots of time, energy and money into this wagon. The result is an exceptionally beautiful and clean wagon that is a pleasure to drive. There is definitely pride in ownership with this one! Finished in MB color code 929 “Nautical Blue” with Palomino interior, this wagon is a great color combination. The paint and body are clean. No dents. I replaced much of the exterior rubber with new factory parts; including the front windshield seal and the window scrapers. I also replaced the front windshield. The bumpers and grille are still original and look great. I replaced the headlight doors with new factory parts, they are flawless as you would expect. The trim and moldings on the car are original but also still in very nice condition. The rims are very clean. The tires have about 50 percent tread remaining. The interior is quite impressive. The original seats are in great shape and show only minimal wear. The back seats look like they have barely been used over the years. The third row seats in the trunk area appear to be practically untouched. All of the wood trim is brilliant and glossy without any peeling or noticeable cracking. Even the window switches show almost no wear. At quite a substantial cost, I went ahead and replaced all of the interior carpet with brand new factory Mercedes Feintuft wool carpeting. I replaced all the carpet, even in the cargo areas, back of the bench seat, lift gate etc. I did not skimp on this, and it really paid off… This finishing touch really set’s this wagon’s interior apart from others. Unfortunately, there are a couple of small tears in the headliner. Luckily they are fairly inconspicuous and they didn’t bother me enough to make me replace the headliner. The dashboard was preserved over the years with a dash cover, resulting in a very clean dash except for a small crack in the corner by the speaker. Mechanically, this Mercedes Benz 300TD runs and drives great! Don’t let the mileage fool you… this car is just breaking in…The engine runs strong, starts right up, even on cold mornings. It idles smooth. The transmission shifts properly. All accessories and controls function… including the power windows, door locks, power antenna, gauges, even the cruise control! The air conditioning works well and blow cold. The sound system has been upgraded with a very nice Alpine head unit. Aside from cosmetics, quite a bit of repair and maintenance work has been put into this wagon in recent months. The partial list includes: Replaced Battery Replaced air filter housing isolators Replaced air filter Replaced primary fuel Filter Replaced secondary Fuel Filter Replaced oil filter and oil change Replaced rear axle shaft- left and right Replaced Belts Valve Adjustment Replaced Valve Cover Gasket Cooling system flush Transmission service Rear differential service SLS Adjustment Please look over the following 75+. Photos as they describe the car better than I can. Allow a minute for all the photos to load, and make sure you are able to scroll all the way to the bottom. The last photos should be of the engine compartment Please let me know if you have any questions! I will answer them promptly and thoroughly. Car is sold as is, there is no warranty expressed or implied. Buyer is responsible for all investigations which must be completed PRIOR to the end of auction. Although this is a very clean example, please understand that this is a 27 year old car and you cannot expect it to be the same as a new car. Although I have done my best to take care of any pending issues, there are never any guarantees when buying a classic that you will not need to put some sort of money into repairs in the future. Please do have all your finances in order before placing a bid. Thank you and Happy Bidding!!!!!! On Feb-01-12 at 08:40:12 PST, seller added the following information: Hi, I have had a couple of questions asking if this car was near New Orleans or flood areas during Katrina... This car is from Shreveport Louisiana, which is northern Louisiana close to the Texas border.... Far away from the devastation of Katrina. It was NOT in any sort of flood and has NO water damage whatsoever. Also, I have had some inquiries on mechanical repairs done on the car... there are a few more things that I did not list in the description above- These include: Both Motor Mounts Transmission Mount Shifter Bushing Upper Control Arms Front Brake Padds Exhaust Hangers AC Service Injector Lines Lastly, I have been asked how the car shifts- It shifts perfectly. No hard first to second transition like you experience in many of these diesel MB's... it shifts smoothly and timely.
