Here is one of the rarest Mercedes 107 chassis of the extensive production run from 1971 til 1989. Built September of 1971 and registered in the US as a 1972 model this 350SL is evey bit original, from the California blue/yellow license plates (front and rear) to the unique steering wheel used only in the 350SL models to the vintage Becker Europa stereo player and the grey color tool set pouch. The green color is original although I can see that it was re painted at one point in the past. The body shows very minimal rust with no signs of rusted through segments or parts and the interior is in excellent condition for its age. I emptied out the fuel tank, changed the oil and filter, rebuilt the original fuel pump, put on a new battery tray and a fresh battery, fired the car up and the engine runs beautifully. Nontheless this Mercedes 350SL is in need of the adecuate attention in order to make it completely road worthy. There is an exhaust leak coming off the exhaust manifold which I am pretty sure would need to be changed or professionally fixed also the brakes do not respond at all. I tried to add brake fluid but that didn't help. I did not try to bleed the brakes though. emergency parking brake works fine. Great candidate for those who love the first edition (believed to be hand made) of the 107 chassis with the small European bumpers of wich are surprisengly in fantastic condition front and rear. Front triangular turn signal lights are in great shape as well, all 4 hub caps are in mint condition although with a dull paint and trunk rubber matt in the back is holding on pretty good. I have a clear California title in hand with original license plates printed on it so a new Califonia owner would get to keep the original plates. This car is located inside my warehouse here in sunny Gardena California near the LAX airport in Los Angeles. Local inspection is very welcome, just call me to set up time and day. On Jan-31-12 at 12:41:03 PST, seller added the following information: Since some of you asked for it, I have lifted the car up with a jack and I took several pictures of the under carriage of the 350SL showing to be extremely solid with no signs of rust anywhere.
