Vehicle Detail

This Cutlass was special ordered from the factory, it's heavily optioned and in all original, unmolested condition, and it's still in the family ! Only 49,500 miles ! Some notable options are: 455 ci engine, Turbo Hydra-matic 400 transmission. Limited slip differential. Plug in engine block heater (yes on a FL car (it was special ordered remember)) Push button AM/FM stereo with 8 track tape player and rear speakers. The sought after Super Stock III wheels which were always body color, however these were swapped with a red car before the car ever left the dealer lot ! (A one of a kind "package"? ) Air Conditioning. Dual Sport mirrors. Full gauge package. Power Brakes. Power Seats. Power Windows. Power Locks. Power trunk release. Tilt steering wheel. The interior is surprisingly clean and presentable, it's as good as I've ever seen on a 37 year old car of any kind. The carpet is just minimally faded, the seats look fantastic, the dash and door panels look like new. There is no torn upholstery or even much visible wear, with a paint job this car would be a real head turner. It also includes the factory maintenance manual, and a very extensive file with an incredible amount of minutia. If you're a perfectionist and an auto enthusiast it's a good read. My father was quite meticulous and obsessive. Every ounce of oil added, every light bulb changed, every belt tightened was logged on a tiny piece of paper and tossed in the file. The window sticker, the build sheet, the options list, the bill of sale, the owners manual, the supplements, it's all in there ! Now for the Bad: The car hasn't been in use since 1987. It's been run occasionally and had some work done. The fuel system was cleaned (probably needs it again) New radiator, new alternator, battery , fuel pump, stuff like that. The car runs and drives however the transmission leaks. I remember it always having a puddle under it when sitting for extended periods, however now it seems to be constant, maybe it will improve with some use as the seals get moistened. The A/C quit decades ago, the clutch siezed up, and that's all I know, I would imagine a new compressor and a service and it would work again. The fuel gauge is stuck on full, however it may fix itself after the sending unit gets exercised. The paint looks ok from a distance, but has quite a few thin spots and some surface rust. The area on the right side of the trunk below the back window has been bare for a long time, the paint just didn't stick, but all the other rusty streaks are fairly new and just recently discovered after washing the car and cleaning it up for the sale. The other areas still shine and given the age and reputation of these cars looks decent. It has been garaged since new. On Jan-07-12 at 13:15:33 PST, seller added the following information: The following 2 pictures are looking straight down, in-between the rear fender and trunk floor, There is a deep crevice that is almost impossible to see down, and anything dropped (such as that light bulb) would be out of view, ( I just reached in there with the camera and hoped for the best) but the metal looks good. On Jan-08-12 at 17:38:32 PST, seller added the following information: I just found some old pics for those nostalgic types. Here it is in 1981 with some family friends. Also in 1981 with the family at Daytona Beach (thats me sitting against the door of the Trans Am) On Jan-12-12 at 12:10:26 PST, seller added the following information: A lot of you have been asking about the door bottoms and corners and rear quarters, as well as the edges of the hood and trunk. There is NO rust through anywhere. NO holes, just some surface rust behind the rear wheels. A little on the edge of the trunk lid, but the doors are as clean as can be ! Left door Right door Left front fender Right front fender Plastic Air Dam....Intact ! Gas tank...very clean Edge of hood...clean Some rust on edge of trunk.
