Vehicle Detail
I am the original owner of this car--bought it new in 1998 with 14 miles showing on the odometer, It was my daily driver for about 4 years, then my wife drove it for another 4. In the past 3-4 years it hasn't been more than 2000 miles or so a year--my need for hauling large numbers of people or cargo has dropped quite a bit. I've been driving it to the grocery store weekly, but have been using other cars we own except when have I have a lot of stuff to move. It's always been garaged, My kids are reaching driving age, and I'm going to have 1 or 2 more cars around for the next few years. I have a 3 car garage, but now own 4 including the Navigator. This is only going to get worse. If you're looking for a truck like this, you understand why I won't let the kids use it--its simply too big and the center of gravity too high for an inexperienced driver. Bottom line--I've decided I just don't have room for a vehicle that I drive so seldom. Although I'm reluctant to sell it, I need the space and the freedom to not be forced to move cars around all the time. This is a really plush and well equipped truck. They took the F-150 frame of the time, and tacked on every option--heavy duty skid plates, radiator, supplemental oil and transmission coolers, towing package, the works. It's factory wired for trailer connection--the plug and wiring harness is included, I've never used it for the short-term hauling that I've done over the years. Every luxury option was standard--leather, extra A/C and radio controls, 6 CD changer, memory seats, heated mirrors--you name it, it's there. The steering wheel is walnut, as is the interior trim. As can be seen in one of the pictures, the original sticker was $44,000+. The 3rd row leather bench seat is included, although it's not in the pictures--I've had it under cover in the basement of recent. I have all the service record invoices going back to the very beginning, and have put them in chronological order. While I'm missing things like oil changes which I didn't save, I have a complete record of anything major that was done, and when. It comes with the truck. I've kept it in excellent repair--have changed the oil every 3000 miles or so, new brakes, tires, battery, etc as needed. Did a major rebuild at the dealer about 7 years ago. Most recently, put in new brakes all around last May. The leather is all in good shape, and everything works, except the compass--which does work, but only when you're driving southeast. Seriously, it's stuck on SE and has been for years--I've never bothered to have it repaired. One accident--many years go. The Navigator was so solid it only created minor damage to the drivers-side front bumper--repaired at the time. No rust. This is a great truck, it's been very good to me and I've taken good care of it--but it needs a new home. Note that the truck is still registered, I have kept that way so it can be driven on inspection, and so I can continue to take it out on weekends. As of early January, I've put on another 150 miles since the original listing. In the last few years, that's about average for how much I've driven it each month. Location is about a half hour north of Boston, off I95. I originally sold this vehicle in Mid-December. Communication with the buyer proved to be difficult and irregular. At the advice of eBay's customer service, I refunded what the buyer had paid to date on January 6, cancelled the transaction, and relisted. That experience and the auction itself, however, has led me to spell out some rules--please read them! No, I won't end the auction early. If you have a question, submit it through the auction. If you have less than 20 feedback, sorry, but I'm just not interested and will cancel your bid. I'm sure that you're going to get a great bonus, tax refund, back alimony payment, whatever, but I'm not interested in waiting for it. No, I don't want to finance you. If you win the auction, you pay the auction-ending price. That's not the start of a negotiated process. Auction terms require a $300 deposit within 48 hours of auction end--that's final! 49 hours, claim with eBay will be filed. After your deposit, you have 14 days to inspect the car or have it inspected for you, and make a CLEARED payment--my preference is PayPal. No payment, claim with eBay filed and I relist. After your payment CLEARS, you have another 14 days to come pick the vehicle up, or show me a hard date that a shipping company will come get it. One thing that made communication with my first buyer difficult (and them suspicious!) was bidders who placed bids in the record, then cancelled them. I can't stop you from doing this, but it's just not fair--think about what you are doing, bid what you can pay, pay if you win. That's how it's supposed to work--it lets a seller like me list nationally with some confidence and lets you as a buyer see a much broader range of potential purchases that you could otherwise. Be sure what you want to do BEFORE you put in a bid--then stick with it. I know the above seems harsh, but despite years of eBay experience selling a car here has been a hellish (and sometimes humorous) exercise. The advantage of being able to reach a wider audience is pretty powerful, but I'm asking potential bidders to read and accept the above to make it more bearable and efficient for you and me.
