Vehicle Detail
As a lifetime General Motors lover and collector, I had to have this little Chevy Luv the second I saw it. It is in remarkable condition in every way. She was donated to a local charity by, as I understand, her original owner. I was notified immediately and added her to my collection. It's nice to have friends in the right places. I still have the 30+ year old certificate of title signed-off by the elderly gentlemen and his wife documenting the mileage as 30,000. I have put very few miles on it during my ownership. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy driving the truck but she's certainly more of a collectors item and show piece than daily transportation. Purchased new at Don Boyer Chevrolet here in the Pacific Northwest. Body, paint, interior and drivetrain are all in excellent condition. The canopy has been on the truck since new and it is also a 1974. The bed/cargo area shows VERY little use. The bed had been protected by a piece of cut-to-match thin plywood and a rubber mat since day one. I removed them to expose the condition of the cargo area. Paint is beautiful and holds a high shine that is without flaws other than a handful of tiny rock chips (very few). The chrome front bumper, stainless trim, grille, lights, lenses and emblems are outstanding. The rear bumper has a slight bend on the right side. All glass is crystal clear. Every body panel lines up perfectly. Each door opens and closes like new. Walking up to this truck is like stepping back to 1974. The interior is amazing and all original except for the seat which has been recovered. The factory tweed seat fabric is scratchy so it was replaced. Carpet, door panels, headliner and dashboard are excellent. Even the steering wheel still looks new. The 4cyl Isuzu engine runs wonderfully. She starts easily and powers the truck well. The manual 4 speed transmission shifts perfectly. The clutch, steering, suspension and brakes are tight and sound. The tires are near new and the factory hubcaps look almost showroom perfect. I owned a 1976 Luv in the mid-80's and it didn't feel as good as this one. Even on the road this little truck has a firm and solid feel. Absolutely everything works! All lights, gauges, heater, wipers, etc, are functioning as intended. Very road-worthy and reliable. With the 4 speed transmission the maximum comfortable speed is really no more than 65mph. I've pushed that limit to just over 70 but I normally hold her at about 60. Fuel economy is impressive. Simply turn the key and go. I will make a few brief comments under some of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my truck in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the truck clearly and accurately. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the truck for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 10th of January at 8PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the truck becomes no longer available. PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my little Luv. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my truck and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE Regardless of care, age and mileage, the plastic dashboards on these Luv's were prone to cracking. Mine is nicer than any I've seen but is starting to show that typical flaw. Crossing the Fremont Bridge heading into Downtown Portland the day I took these photos (Jan-4-2012) I only looked through the camera for a second to snap this pic. I have discovered absoleutely no rust issues of any kind. She is impressively straight as you look down both sides. No waviness or wash-board effect. The body is outstanding. They are never found in this condition. As I stated earlier, all chrome and trim is beautiful. No tarnish or pitting. Yes, even the cab light works. No offense to the quality of GM products of this vintage or the joint-venture between Isuzu and Chevrolet, but the vinyl and plastic used in this era was not the very best. You'd never know that on this truck. The original door panels and other commonly tattered pieces are in incredible condition. As mentioned previously in my main description: The mileage documented on the title by the previous owners was listed as 30,000 and as a donation they certainly had no reason to mislead anyone. I was not lucky enough to meet them and other than the signed certificate of title with mileage reading, I have no further records or receipts. Condition supports mileage claim. Has never had a radio. The original paint is still inside the cargo area. Wonderful condition. Tailgate shows very little wear and gentle use. The canopy has always been in-place and is in nice shape except for the slight damage on the outside right rear corner where he caught his garage door that I showed in an earlier photo. One of the most sanitary and original engine compartments you'll find. Lightly undercoated when new. No rust of any kind. Never exposed to a salted road or harsh chemical de-icers. Undercarriage is excellent. See- Even the canopy is a 1974! I have multiple sets of original keys. These trucks became extinct long ago. Finding one in this condition is almost unheard of. Rare is an understatement. Your impression should be complete by now. Yes, it's that nice. Thanks again for your time- Terms of Sale: 38yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my Truck honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. I have 100% faith in the drivability of this truck and to my knowledge everything is in excellent working order per my written description above. I have free and clear Washington title in my possession. I would drive this little pickup anywhere but she is 38 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the truck for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pick up or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. They have handled my transport needs perfectly for the last 4 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will gladly provide contact info for them at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1400.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
