Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a Dec. '81 build 1982 DeLorean DMC-12. I have owned this car since February 2009 and it has been stored in a garage when not being driven. Purchased in St. Louis, MO. This car has recently gone through an extensive service by DeLorean Motor Company Midwest and has had the following performed: -Suspension overhauled and upgraded to lowered performance spec, including new trailing-arm bolts -Stage II engine upgrade (now making 200+ hp), includes stainless high flow exhaust and powder coated intake manifold -Complete overhaul on engine replacing all worn parts -Cooling system overhaul with new radiator, low power/high-efficiency cooling fans, and all hoses replaced with silicone hoses -Brake system overhaul with new master cylinder -All new fuses and updated relays for electrical system -Brand new correctly sized tires -various other minor fixes Mechanically, this car is in excellent shape. Upon completion of the work, I drove the car from Chicago, IL to St. Louis, MO in an evening and then from there to Colorado Springs, CO in one day with no issues. The car was a daily driver for most of the summer and fall and has been garaged since early October, with me starting it and taking it around the block every two weeks or so to keep everything functioning. The car does have a battery kill switch installed as well. The frame was inspected while at DMC Midwest and came back with no problems found. The few issues remaining with the car are mostly cosmetic. There are some scratches on the driver's side of the front fascia, the passenger seat leather has a tear in the middle and the dash, while in good shape (and always covered by a sun cover since I've owned it) has some slight cracking in the binnacle. The stainless is in great shape, with most of the scratches that were on the car buffed out through hours of work by myself. The car has two problem areas. The car has some damaged fiberglass on the passenger side door strut area. You can see this in the photos I have provided. I have been told by a fiberglass repair company that this should not be too expensive to fix, I just haven't had the time to get it taken care of. Also, the "tollbooth" windows are having issues. The driver's side is currently stuck in place and the passenger side window moves slowly up and down. Fixing them involves taking off the interior door panel and it's just something I don't have the time to do. Also included in the sale are the two volume Technical Owners Guide and Part manuals, a box of spare parts (mostly for an engine tune-up), a tool set containing wrenches for all nut and bolt sizes on the DeLorean, and the DeLorean Gold Portfolio and a first edition of Stainless Steel Illusion. Buyer will have $500 due within 24 hours of auction close (immediate payment of $500 if using Buy It Now) and full payment of the remaining amount within seven days. The title is held by the bank and as soon as the payment clears, I will have the title to transfer within 36 hours. Buyer will arrange pickup and/or shipping.
