Vehicle Detail
Up for auction here is my 1967 Plymouth Fury III station wagon, with the 440 Commando V8 engine. This car is all original, and I'd like to say 100% complete, but it's missing a courtesy light in the back cargo section. That's it... There were only 9,270 of these wagons made, and even fewer with the 440 option. This one also has Factory Air Conditioning, and 6-way power front seat. And the Owners Certicard! The car weighs 4,080 lbs, and is 18 ft. long, and was built in St. Louis, MO. The car has been setting for about 10 years, mostly in a garage. It is in amazing shape for being 45 years old. I am only the 3rd owner, as of last month. Here are descriptions: BODY: Very straight with no rust. All the usual places that get it, like rockers, are solid . There are little spots of surface rust on paint where chips happened. It still has the original white paint! There is one foot-long section on front fender where a some bubbles are showing, due to poor prep. But no bondo or cancer. Trim is all in excellent shape, with no dings. All the rubber door seals look almost new! Doors open & close as solid as can be. Spare & jack are still in the compartment on side. GLASS: all excellent, no chips or cracks All the windows roll up and down, except the tailgate one. Maybe a blown fuse, I don't know. WHEELS: Michelin tires, good tread, but they are older. Please note- the wire spoke wheelcovers do NOT go with the car. They are Ford, and I bought a good set of the correct Plymouth wheelcovers, shown in the carport photo. INTERIOR: Original seats and carpet..carpet could stand to be replaced. Drivers seat has spilts in seams, as shown. Back seat looks great. Headliner is near perfect! It's the "cardboard" type with little perforated holes. Door panels are very nice, with one armrest's seam coming apart. Some painted metal surfaces have pinhead-sized spots of rust, that wipe off with rubbing compound. The vinyl panels that are on the cargo deck are not in real great shape, but are cleaned. Dashboard has one small crack in vinyl, about 2" long, from speaker. There is also a short piece of metal under glove compartment door that is eroded away, probably from a mouse nest that was inside. There is also an add-on tachometer and oil pressure gauge. ELECTRICAL: Radio works, as does the turn signals, wipers, emergency flashers, courtesy lights, and oil light. The 2 items that won't come on are the headlights and tailgate window. BRAKES: I'm not sure about these...the master cylinder still has fluid, but needs cleaned out. Car rolls fine, but I have not pushed on the brake pedal. ENGINE: And here is the concern...it's kind of stuck. With a cheater bar on the crankshaft nut, I can make it move back & forth about 8". I've put Marvels Mystery oil in the spark plug holes for a week before trying to turn it over. But I don't want to force the issue. The engine was rebuilt shortly before the guy parked it. The carb needs cleaned out too. The gear shift lever goes into all the spots fine. There are no leaks from engine or tranny. The exhaust pipes are gone from middle of car to the back. This car is so close to running...it just needs someone with the knowledge and patience to get it on the road again. It is in amazing shape, and as they say, it's only original once. This one is it! My descriptions may sound negative, but I want the buyer to know the condition of everything. With a little cleaning and TLC, it could be a great cruiser, as you can see by the photos. Please feel free to call with questions. My home phone (eves/weekends) is 541-726-8467 Cell phone weekdays 7-3:30 is 541-285-7859 I can help with arranging transport. I will have to trailer it down to the pick-up point a few miles from here. Good luck bidding! It's a cool car.... On Jan-02-12 at 12:35:11 PST, seller added the following information: And last but not least, I just bought a nearly-new Owners Manual for it...On Jan-02-12 at 18:30:21 PST, seller added the following information: CORRECTION: mileage is 125,690..... I can't find how to revise that, so I'm adding it here.
