Vehicle Detail
1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer VIN: 1JCNJ15U9HT014881 Ever wonder what becomes of the tax-donation vehicles you hear radio and TV solicitations for almost everyday? Well, wholesale companies like ours are some of the major recipients and buyers. Usually much of what’s donated isn’t in very good condition so we send them right to the dealer auctions and we even deliver some straight to the crusher! Every so often we get in a one-of-a-kind rig that is truly something special. This very nice Grand Wagoneer is one of those vehicles! Please read on: Though we don’t have the first three year’s history, we do know that the Jeep has been owned by folks here in the rust-free Great Pacific Northwest for the past twenty-two years. Today the odometer reads less than 130,800 original miles – that’s not even averaging 5,250 a year since new! As you can see from the AutoCheck History Report here with the listing, this Wagoneer has absolutely NO history of any accidents, theft or insurance salvage and that report backs-up what we were told of the mileage history. Please contact me directly with any questions or to make a purchase offer before the auction ends (of the hundreds of vehicles we’ve sold here on Ebay, about a third go to a smart early-bird that calls ahead and buys the rig outright – don’t snooze and lose!). My direct phone number is 206/914-1173 and my name is Mark Thompson. You’re welcome and encouraged to make an appointment during business hours to inspect the Jeep at my Auburn, WA warehouse. General Condition: The photos really do tell the Grand Wagoneer’s story. If you’re looking for something unique that will handle long distance trips, towing your boat, rough country roads, or even a great driving daily commuter, this is the SUV for you. When it came to us, we felt it was in such superior original condition a detail wasn’t even necessary. What you see is the result of a wash and vacuum only! The exterior has gold metallic paint that appears to have been redone sometime in the past (check out the undoctored photos). I find it far, far better than average. Most of these Jeeps suffered from a clearcoat problem and were repainted under factory warranty, so I’m assuming that’s what occurred here based on the accident-free history report. All the glass is original with no cracks or delam spots. The faux wood grain trim and moldings are in overall great condition with the exception of one panel as pictured – and that one is still very passable. How many of these first-generation rigs still have their factory Marchal fog lamps with the BOTH original (uncracked) lenses? The factory alloy wheels are straight and true with about 70-80% rubber and their original hubcaps. Rust? Please! Our west coast vehicles hate body rust and I see nothing here to worry about! Yes, the Pacific Northwest does get a bit of drizzly rain, but hardly ever any snow so our winter roads aren’t salted. Climb over, under and around this nice Wagoneer - I know you’ll come up smiling! Please take a good look at the interior pictures. They can’t fully convey to you the great overall condition of this vehicle. The tan leather upholstery on both the front and rear seats is very nice. The door panels are excellent too. Aftermarket floor mats protect the factory carpeting and appear to have kept keep it looking clean and well above average. I’m quite impressed with the condition of the dash gauges. They’re as clear and bright as the day this Jeep left the factory more than two decades ago and every one works as far as I can tell! An in-dash stereo CD player has replaced the factory radio. One great selling point is the headliner. It’s one of the nicest, near perfect originals I’ve ever come across on one of these. If you find a Wagoneer with a missing or sagging headliner BEWARE, they’re almost impossible to have replaced and all salvagable used ones vanished years ago! Mechanically this vehicle seems strong and in fine shape. Even after sitting in our storage warehouse for a few days at a time it never fails to start right up at the first few cranks – you just can’t beat these bullet-proof 5.9 liter V-8s! A peak at the dash gauge photo reveals the cruising temperature right where you want it at about 200 degrees; and the charging system in the sweet spot with 13-14 amps. The oil gauge pins quickly at the top. I didn’t trust the gauge so I had my mechanic test that the pressure was acceptable, which he verified to me. You’ll need to recharge the A/C system before next summer’s warm weather. The automatic transmission glides up and down between gears just fine. No problems with the shift-on-the-fly 4WD system that I noticed. After driving it everywhere now for several days, I can tell you that this vintage SUV freeway accelerates to 70 MPH almost before you can blink. Really my only complaint is a bit of rough idle, and I think the carb has been worked on or replaced, so some tuning may be necessary down the road. Nothing is noticeable under load. If you’re in the market for an original, almost-minty, collectable Jeep please give this rig your kind attention. I know it can be tough to find another in this excellent, low mileage condition with a ridiculously low reserve! As a long-term Ebay seller with many satisfied online buyers, I want you to bid with confidence knowing that this vehicle runs and drives as it should and that it is being properly represented to you. About the only negatives I can think to pass along are three electric window switches that aren’t functioning and a section of carpet has degenerated back in the left rear corner of the storage area, just in front of the tailgate, but it can easily be replaced. We’ve helped arrange long-distance shipping for many of our customers all over the world, but I also have no problem encouraging bidders to do what others from as far away as Alaska, the east coast, Arizona, Eastern Canada, Florida and even the Mexican Baja have done – fly in (We’ll pick you up at Sea-Tac International ten minutes away) and then drive home cross-country the same day! I wouldn’t hesitate (and in fact, I encourage you) to do so. C’mon, the weather’s pretty decent and, hey, you’ll have instant four-wheel-drive if a little snow or ice does show up on the trip! Note to Bidders: We will NEVER “shill” or falsely "bump-up" an auction (a violation of eBay rules and also Federal Law) and we will NEVER, EVER solicit a “Second Chance Offer” from ANY Bidder! Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, we require that new eBay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions call or email before placing a bid. If I don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. The phone number to talk directly to me, as outlined above, is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is Mark Thompson. TERMS OF SALE: In fairness to all bidders Reserves are held in confidence until after the end of the auction. Please check the photos over closely and call with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! You are encouraged to inspect the vehicle at our premises on weekdays, so send your representative early to be sure you don't miss this one. We reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback. DEALERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO BID! We reserve the right to end the auction early if the car is no longer for sale or an acceptable offer has been agreed to. A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s end. We can accept PAYPAL, wire transfer or certified funds for the deposit. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within five days unless prior arrangements have been made with us. Remember, you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winner to fulfill their Ebay contract! You are not bidding to hold, inspect or then come test-drive the vehicle! You are more than welcome to do this before the auction ends. All costs of transport to the purchaser’s location are the responsibility of the purchaser. I’m more than happy to store the Jeep in our warehouse for a few days after the sale and will help coordinate pickup and loading with the transporter you choose. Thanks for looking and happy bidding! Just a few additional Terms and Requirements: The Buyer is responsible for any licensing requirements in their state of residence. If you’re a Washington State resident we’ll need to collect the required 9.5% sales tax, title preparation any registration/transfer fees at the time of delivery to you. This means we collect NO sales tax or title costs if you’re from anywhere else. I've done my very best to describe the Grand Wagoneer as honestly as possible. As a pre-owned vehicle, it may have or develop issues or problems at any moment, so please don’t have unreasonable expectations. I can't guarantee that every physical and internal defect or flaw has been uncovered, but have tried to accurately describe the major points at the time of the auction. The Jeep is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Having said that, I know of no reason why you couldn't drive it anywhere. A storage fee of $15 per day will take effect beginning the fifteenth day after the auction concludes unless other arrangements have been agreed to. The State of Washington shall have exclusive jurisdiction over all disputes. Venue shall be exclusively in King County. The final contract signed between both buyer and seller shall be binding. The final signed contract and terms thereof shall govern the sale. All disputes arising out of or relating to this auction, any negotiations, the signed agreement, or to the breach, enforcement or interpretation thereof, shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Washington, in accordance with the terms contained in the final sale agreement and under the laws of the State of Washington. Whew! Don’t you just love legalese?
