Hello and Thanks For Your Interest. Up for sale is my 1979 AMC Spirit AMX. VIN decodes to: A American Motors 9 1979 M Manual 4 Speed on the floor 4 Spirit 3 Hatchback 9 AMX (of the 52,714 Spirits made in 1979 only 3,657 were AMXs) H 304 2 Barrel (the car has a 258 in it) 182484 Build Sequence Number As you can see the VIN says this WAS a V-8 (304 2 barrel) from the factory - this was last year AMC used V8s in their production cars - it HAS a 1979 258 I-6 (straight six) in it from the stamping on the side of the block. This is a rebuilt car (prior to me owning it) so not sure if the engine was replaced or possibly the dash with VIN tag but Nevada DMV lists it with the VIN of A9M439H182484 and it had a VIN inspection by them when I got my title and the prior title also had the same VIN on it. Either way it should not take much to convert it to a V-8 if that is what you want to do - I have a few AMC V-8s available that I can offer to the winning bidder. Door tag shows Factory Black vehicle - Odometer reads 47,499.5 but since the odometer does not have the extra digit I have no way of knowing if it has rolled over at least once or more - Nevada puts "EXEMPT" on the titles of vehicles over 9 years old. Very rare factory black Spirit AMX (52,714 Spirits made in 1979 and only 3,657 were AMXs). This car runs and drives, starts and stops. It has the ultra rare tilt steering column, front power disc brakes, front and rear anti-sway bars, all four turbine cast factory mag wheels, in dash tach, floor console mounted rally gauges, sport mirrors, in dash A/C - A/C parts under hood not present - power steering - it is leaking some power steering fluid so may need serviced. Needs exhaused replaced - currently just an exhaust pipe with no muffler (good and loud :-) Has the rear Spoiler and working hatch release button in the glove box. Looks to have had other bucket seats installed in the front - back seat looks original. Will need carpet replaced (most of the interior is black but the carpet and seats are blue). Some minor dents and dings but a Very SOLID rust free Nevada car - if any rust it is just minor light surface rust - I see no rust through anywhere on the car. I do not have any other 1979 Spirit AMX parts other than what is attached to the car in the pictures. Questions? Please contact me to arrange a day/time to come inspect the car for yourself.
