Vehicle Detail
Let me start by saying I have recently semi retired from my career of 30 years to pursue my passion for automobiles. I have access to wholesale auctions and search the country in search of cars that interest me, this is the first of hopefully many Land Cruisers I plan to sell. I am a long time Land Cruiser fanatic, I have owned everything from 40's to 62's and several 80's, even did a 6.2 diesel conversion on a 94 a couple years ago so I feel like I know them pretty well and would love to specialize in them. This Land Cruiser apparently was a bank repo and according to CarFax it has had some previous accident damage but it is not apparent from anything I can see. I bought it at an auction in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the main thing wrong with it at the time was the clear coat was peeling on the hood and fenders, other than that it was filthy but I could tell that under the filth it appeared to be in good condition, lets call it a diamond in the rough. I am a bit fanatical about the cleanliness of my cars so with every vehicle I purchase I remove the interior and start from the ground up, this Land Cruiser was no exception, even the carpets came out, were pressure washed and put back in, the seats were all cleaned thoroughly, the console, everything was scrubbed and cleaned before reinstalling in the car, you would be hard pressed to find one any cleaner. There are still some stains, especially in the cargo area in the rear but for the most part it is very nice. The front and middle row seats have been re-upholstered in vinyl, it looks very nice and you would have to know that it was not original, most people would not be able to tell. The tires are BFG KM/2 Mud Terrains 285/75/16 with about 70% tread, they are a great off road tire and not too bad on the highway either. The wheels were just painted satin black with automotive enamel, I think they look great and should hold up well. Everything is pretty stock, the factory temperature gauge does not work (it just sits at about 3/4 all the time) so an aftermarket gauge has been installed, it is a nice addition since the factory gauges are known for having a dead spot, with the aftermarket gauge you know exactly what is going on. Currently the ABS light is on, it wasn't the other day so I will look into that. A/C blows cold, I just put new brake pads on front and rear, rotors looked good, there really isn't much this car needs. This is a southern car so rust is not an issue, there is a bit of Oklahoma clay still on the undercarriage that won't even come off with my pressure washer, we will just call it a good protective coating. I have put a couple hundred miles on this, it runs great, drives straight, no squeaks or rattles (that is the thing I love most about Land Cruisers, they are solid!) it has 179.000 miles on and I would take it anywhere, there are at least another 100,000 left in this. There is a hole punched in the top of the drop down gate in the back, you can only see it when the hatch is up, I have included a picture, nothing I would worry about. The paint is nice, not perfect, it has been painted on, there are some dings but for a 15 year old car it looks great. I am currently in the process of refurbishing the steering wheel, I also have a vent ordered for the passenger side and a new rubber antenna is going to be installed, I will add pictures on Monday of these things. If you are looking at this you probably know about Land Cruisers so I don't need to go into too many detailsI just realized I forgot any engine pictures, it cleaned up well too, I will add some in the morning when I get some good light. It is not perfect (if you want perfect wait for my next Land Cruiser, just bought a 40th anniv fully locked with only 57,000 miles!) but for the price I don't think you will find a better Land Cruiser.Feel free to contact me with any questions! On Jan-01-12 at 20:54:12 PST, seller added the following information: Just added a picture of the engine compartment, about to get the steering wheel finished so will post a picture of it tomorrow.
