Vehicle Detail
1978/1986 SILVERADO 4 WHEEL DRIVE--SHORT WHEEL BASE. 78 CHEVY K-10 SHORT WHEEL BASE PICKUP The truck was put together using a 78 model heavy half rolling chassis and an 86 model silverado body with an 89 model blazer grille. The truck has a clear title and is titled as a 78 model in order to help with taxes and emissions. The running gear consists of heavy half suspension, dana 44 front end, a 12 bolt rearend, both with 373 gears, a rebuilt 350 turbo transmission, and a 290 H.P. GM 350 crate engine. The truck was originally full time 4wheel drive, and the 203 transfer case was replaced with a new proscess 208 transfer case with lock in lock out hubs on the front. The body is a rust free 86 model silverado cab, bed, and front clip, with an 89 model blazer grille. The body only has 51,000 miles on it and was ZIEBARTED when it was new. The body had surface rust around the rear wheel wells on the outer metal only. I cut it out and welded full wheelwell patches on both sides. The doors had surface rust along the bottoms, so I replaced them also. The rest of the body was rust free, and now it is all rust free. Then I painted it with Dupont Urethane Porshe Guards Red, on the outside, inside of the doors, door jams, inside the bed, and between the hood and fenders. Then I put the following new parts on the outside of the truck: rear bumper, body side moldoings, fenderwell moldings, door edge guards, grab handles, vent visors, sun visor, mirrors, headlight bezels, tailgate cap, bed mat, tail light lenses, door rubbers, and new window tracks. The interior consists of red cloth bucket seats, center cosole, carpet, headliner, door panels and dash pad. It has tilt steering, delay wipers, and air conditioning. Concerning the air conditioning, I took it apart and put all new o-rings, shrader valves, a new oriphice, and a new accumulator on it. I also have the kit to convert it from R-12 to R-134, that comes with the truck. I have not charged it, as it has been to cold, and I was going to wait for warmer weather. All of the guages, lights and switches work also. The truck came with duel gas tanks originally. The Right Hand gas tank is missing, but everything else is still there. It has the switch inside the cab, the fuel switching solenoid underneath, and the hoses are plugged and tucked up into the frame. All you need are the brackets that attach to the frame, the gas tank, and the sending unit. The engine is a 350 GM crate engine with about 20,000 miles on it. I put a new battery in it, new plugs, wires, distributor rebuild kit from summit which consists of a new cap, button, module, wiring harness, vacum advance module, weights, springs, an coil. It also has new belts, hoses, Edelbrock 600 carberator with electric choke, vacum hoses, fuel hoses, PCV valve, summit chrome valve covers, and a 14" chrome air cleaner with a 3" re-usable element. Everything under the hood works, and it also has a dual exhaust system with flomasters and hiflow converters When I was building the truck, I did not want to spend a fortune on tires, because I was thinking about lifting it 4" in the future. So I put a brand new set of 31x10.50 recap tires on it. They are brand new, ride great, and have a full replacement warranty down to half tread. The wheels are aluminum outlaws and have all been balanced out. The truck runs and drives great. Everything works, and anything that was suspect was replaced. This truck has the best of both worlds, because it has the 78 model runnig gear with a dana 44 front, a 12bolt rear, and 373 gears, instead of the 10 bolts with 308 gears that come on most of the newer trucks. And it has the newer model silverado body that was not only newer, but has alot more options. This truck was put together the right way, no corners were cut. There is no rust on this truck anymore. I payed 3500.00 for the truck and spent another 4000.00 restoring it. I am actually selling this truck for less than I have in it. All this truck needs is the gas tank put back on the passenger side, and the air conditioning charged, I have done everthing else. I have the right to pull this truck out of the auction at any time, as it is for sale locally. If you have any questions, E-mail me or call me at (304)-727-7646. I live in Saint Albans, W.V. and if you purchase the truck and live in the tri-state area, I would discuss helping with the delivery.
