Vehicle Detail
yehrite69 Store Hello, and thanks for taking the time to view my listing.Today I am listing an All Original 1966 Chevrolet Caprice 2 Door Hardtop. The Caprice has the original drivetrain and has only 42,271 original miles. The car was a running, driving car when it was parked in the late 1970's, when my Great Aunt had to move into a Nursing Home for health reasons. It was parked under a carport from the late 1970's until 2004, but the elements still did their damage. It is NOT in driveable and serviceable condition at this time and will need a restoration. This car has been in my family since 1966.I believe my Great Aunt purchased the car in 1966 from Paul Smith Chevrolet in Albertville, Alabama. I believe that she purchased the car new, as her first and only new car purchase. I have all the original paperwork, but I have been unable to locate it in storage. I am sorry that I can't provide the original invoice, Protecto Plate, etc. for the car. I have searched several times, and I just have no idea where I have the paperwork stored. When my Great Aunt passed away, she left the car to my brother. When my brother passed away, I acquired it from his estate around 2000.I had every intention of restoring this wonderful 1966 Caprice, but I am unable to do the work, so I am selling it to someone to fulfill the dream. The vehicle is not a title vehicle in Alabama because of the year model, and the purchaser will only receive a Bill of Sale for the vehicle. There are no liens against the vehicle and it is free and clear for purchase. The vehicle does NOT currently run and will have to be trailered or towed from the premises. The vehicle will have to be put on a trailer or a flat bed as it has 4 flat tires. Purchaser is responsible for any and all charges for pickup and delivery of the vehicle to their location. Again, I am not responsible for loading, transport, or delivery of the vehicle to the purchaser. Vehicle Details.....The Chevrolet Caprice was introduced into the lineup as a deluxe or luxury option for Chevrolet customers, and each year more options and luxury items were added to the series. This car had some nice options for 1966.Here is the vehicle description and details to the best of my knowledge and my research. I will list factory options when I have them available. The only production numbers I could find on 1966 Caprice models was that 181,400 total were produced including Station Wagons, and of those 107,047 were 2 Door Hardtops. I could not find any more breakdowns. 1966 Chevrolet Caprice 2 Door Hardtop.VIN- 166476A132542Assembled in Atlanta, GeorgiaMileage- 42,721 Original Miles.Motor- 327 CID 275 HP Turbo Fire V-8 4 Barrel (RPO-L30)Transmission- Powerglide 2 speed Automatic (RPO-M35)Differential- Unknown ratio and specificationsKnown Options:*Factory Four Season Comfort Air Conditioning (RPO-C60)*Power Assist Steering*Front Bumper Guards*Tri-Volume Horn (I am pretty certain this was installed)*Push Button AM Radio*Front Fender Mounted Antenna*Front Custom Deluxe Color Matched Seat Belts with Front Retractors (RPO-A39)*Rear Custom Deluxe Color Matched Seat Belts with Front Retractors (RPO-A39)*120 MPH Speedometer (This may be standard, I am not sure)*Clock*Body Side Accent Pin Striping The Caprice has the complete original drivetrain to my knowledge, and was a running car when it was parked and stored. It has not had any attempt made to start and drive since it was put into storage 30 plus years ago. I make no claim that the motor-transmission-differential or any other components are in serviceable condition. The carburetor is missing from the car. I had the car in storage for about 6 months at a self storage location, and even though it was gated, someone stole the carburetor. Other than that, the car is complete. The car is 327/275 HP powered with a Powerglide transmission. I am unsure of the rear end ratio and whether it is 10 or 12 bolt. The car has factory Air Conditioning and factory Power Steering. The car has manual 4 wheel drum brakes. The car is Ermine White with Blue interior, and appears to have originally had vinyl bench seats with cloth inserts. The car has cloth mesh retractable from seat belts, and an AM push button radio. ***********The car has some rust holes, and the rear body floor pan is almost completely rusted through, as is the very top of the rear body panel (where the taillights attach). I can't tell concerning the main body floor pan. Both quarter panels appear to have small rust holes at the bottom, as do the doors. I didn't see any holes in the front fenders, but it is a possibility. The hood and trunk lid could have some very small holes, but I didn't really notice any. Overall the body appears to be in pretty good condition, with just a few small dents all the way around. Please ask any questions if you need more information. This car is 45 years old, and it is not uncommon for floor pans to need replacing in a restoration project. I believe this is a very good project car considering it has some good factory installed optional equipment, has low original miles, and has the original drivetrain. I wish that I had the space and ability to restore this car, as I think it will be a gorgeous finished project if restored to it's original colors. Other Vehicle Details....***The engine ID is T1229HCHI believe this breaks down to T=Engine Assembly Plant-Tonawonda, NY,1229=Production Date-December 29, HC=327/275HP/Powerglide/4BBL, H=Unknown to me. I did not find the VIN stamped on the stand, but in many cases this was stamped during final vehicle assembly, and in some cases not marked at all. Also, I may have overlooked it as my sight is not as good as it once was years ago, but I do not think there was any stamping. ***Vehicle Assembly Plate on cowl. Not all options are stamped on these tags, and some Assembly Plants did not stamp any options on these tags.Line 1***ST 66-11647 ATL 5404 BODY66-11647=1966 Caprice 2DR HTATL=Atlanta, Georgia Assembly Plant5404=Unknown to meLine 2***TR 843-A C-C PAINT843-A=Blue Interior-Bench SeatC-C=Exterior Paint Upper & Lower Color-Ermine WhiteLine 3***2KM2=Option Group 2K=Air Conditioning (RPO C60)M=Powerglide Transmission (RPO M35)Line 4***5YL5=Option Group 5Y=Deluxe Seat Belts (RPO A39)L=Unknown****It has a large 3 hand stamped in the middle of the plate, and as I understand that is a final inspection stamp verifying that the car is ready to be shipped to the dealer from the Atlanta facility. I can't say for sure, but that is what I found while researching.**** Feel free to ask me any questions, or request more specific pictures.I will do my best to provide any information that I can.The car is located in Harvest, AL and is available for inspection throughout the time of the auction, should you want to look at the car in person.I have not included my phone number in the listing, but will give it via message. I listed a number once and got a bunch of solicitor calls. I have tried to list this car as honestly as I could, but I am not a body repair person. Make sure to ask any questions. The car is sold AS IS, with no Warranty whatsoever.ALL SALES ARE FINAL!!!!The buyer is responsible for any taxes and related fees. The buyer is responsible for making all arrangements for the car to be picked up and removed from the premises, and the buyer is responsible for any and all related charges for the pickup and removal. This car is not currently a running, driving car but is also not what I would consider a parts or salvage car. I think it is an excellent candidate for a full restoration, and I had planned on bringing it back to life.I do have the car for sale locally, and do reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time to make a local sale.I have well over $4000 invested in this car between the original purchase, several flat bed tows, and storage space rental.I am going to start the auction at $200, and I will have a modest reserve set.I will also have a Buy It Now option available. I require a $500 Non-Refundable deposit to be paid via Paypal within 24 hours after the end of the auction, this includes Buy It Now. The remaining proceeds for the total amount of the sale is due and payable within 5 working days.I will accept Paypal, Official Bank Certified Check, or Cash for the remaining balance of the selling price. A Bank Check will have to actually clear before I will release the car to the purchaser.I am pretty open as far as when the car is actually picked up from the premises. I would like you to pick it up within a couple of weeks of auction's end though. I do however take no responsibility for the car once the financial transaction is completed, regardless of pickup arrangements. I have only been selling on eBay for 6 months or so, but I have been a buyer for many years.I try to do my best to honestly represent any and all items that I list to sell.I take pride in my 100% feedback score as a buyer and seller, and will strive to offer the services that I expected as a buyer when I am selling items.I will leave positive feedback as soon as payment is received. These are the terms of my listings unless otherwise stated in the listing....All items are sold as is with no warranty whatsoever. All sales are final, and there are no refunds. Please ask any questions that you may have before making a purchase, and I will gladly provide any assistance that I can. My listings will require payment within 4 days, with the exception of Buy It Now.Buy It Now requires immediate payment.Packages will normally be shipped out the next business day.I will combine shipping, if possible, based on actual shipping costs including insurance. If you are purchasing multiple items, you will need to message me prior to purchase or immediately upon purchase, so that I may adjust shipping cost and refund the difference before I ship the items. Thanks for checking out my listings, and I hope you find something you like!!!!
