It is difficult to find quality low mileage SLs, and some fortunate buyer will get this fine example! These cars are called the "Tank Car" because of their exceptional "over-built" build quality. This particular Mercedes 380SL is in really nice condition overall. BODY- The body of this 380SL is very straight as you can see from the photos. No dents or rust anywhere, and no signs of accident damage. The soft top has discoloration on the rear windows and a few small holes, but will keep you dry if caught out in the rain. However replacements can be found for less than $500. The hardtop has some paint chipping/flakes, as does the aftermarket upgraded front spoiler (under the front bumper), which was upgraded from a 560SL. You can see these blemishes in the photos. Overall, a very clean sharp looking exterior. An 8 out of 10. INTERIOR- The interior on this Mercedes is beautiful. The carpets are nice and plush, with no major stains. Seats are in great condition. The dashboard has only minor hairline cracks. The car's interior reflects its mileage and is in good shape. Also an 8 out of 10. MECHANICAL- This 380SL has good torque and power out of its V8 engine. The brakes are smooth without vibration or pulling side to side. The steering is tight and smooth unlike lesser examples (beware of loose steering on these cars!). Transmission could use a modulator adjustment. When the car is not up to temperature, it shifts okay, but not as smooth as when warmed up. Please note, this is not a transmission issue, but a specific problem with these cars that is often mis-diagnosed. The problem is the shift modulator. Again, the car still drives really nice, and when fully warmed up is not noticeable. Tires are all in good shape with over 80% tread. This is a nice driving car that will cruise all day at 70-80 MPH! The new owner with minimal investment can have a top notch low mileage W107 Mercedes worth over $24k (NADA) or can be kept as is for a nice driver condition Mercedes!
