Vehicle Detail
Due to going through a divorce I have my 1979 Jeep CJ7 Golden Eagle with only 74,473 actual miles . It is a lifelong Texas vehicle untill I purchased it a few months back and is 98% rust-free. This is a REAL Golden Eagle and in nice original condition. It is equipped with a 304 V8, Automatic Transmission, Quadratrac, Power Steering and Power Brakes and all other standard equipment that comes with the Golden Eagle option. It had sat several years when the person sold it to me which explains the low mileage. Exterior: The body is in nice original condition and 98% rust-free. The paint is approximately 60% original. The paint is original on the grill, driver front fender, body tub from the middle of the doors back and the complete interior. It looks to have been involved in a fender bender at some point and the hood, passenger fender, cowl and side of the tub to the middle of the doors were repainted. The paint and decal on the hood are checked and cracking due to age, poor paint quality from the repaint and the Texas sun along with the cowl. There are chips, scratches and dings as you would expect on an original vehicle this age. On the exterior other than some surface rust on scratches and dings there is only one very small area with through rust. It is on the driver rear tail panel on the spot welds about the size of a pencil eraser and is pictured. There is dent right behind the driver rear wheel. The undercarriage is very nice as you can see with no undercoating. The windshield needs to be replaced due to cracks in the middle. The sunroof looks to be original as it is the same as what's pictured in the factory brochure. The Jeep has always had a hard top and never a soft top with no snaps installed. Drivetrain: The Jeep has a 304 V8, Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission and Quadratrac Transfer Case. The engine runs strong and idles smooth but has a pushrod or lifter clatter in the valve train. Probably due to setting an extended length of time and I would recommend freshing it up even though the vehicle does not have many miles. Everything is stock on it other than a new Holley 2 barrel carburetor installed by the previous owner. The transmission shifts smooth and has no problems. The transfer case was replaced with a remanufactured unit and filled with the correct Quadratrac transmission fluid and functions smooth and proper also. The brakes were replaced also when it was in the shop having the transfer case installed. The relatively new dual exhaust sounds great but not loud. The Jeep does not have any smog equipment. It is a Canadian built vehicle and am unsure if it would even been installed from there. Interior: The interior has the original tan denim low-back seats and dash pad. The driver seat has the normal wear on the side from getting in and out and splitting at the seams. The passenger and rear seats have splitting at the seams also. The dash pad is nice other than a couple cracks. The original console is missing. The gauges and all accessories work with exception of the clock. Even the windshield washers still work. The dash has not been cut for an aftermarket radio. The interior floors are very nice and solid with original paint and have surface rust in a few spots but no through rust or soft spots as seen pictured. Nothing covered up with spray-in liner like most do. Wheels: The Golden Eagle still has the original wheels which a previous owner freshened up the paint. They look very nice with no damage. It has a matching set of five 31X10.5X15 tires. The spare looks new and the other 4 have approximately 80% tread. They all have some cracking due to age.
