Vehicle Detail

This 1986 190E 2.3-16 "cossie" was purchased by me several years ago. I was going to build it to replicate the 1992 Sonax DTM car driven by Klaus Ludwig. There really isn't a lot to say about the car in it's current condition. It's a rolling chassis awaiting somebody to finish. I can be of great help locating parts, or simply directing you who and where to look to finish this car. It has an SCCA/NASA/FIA legal chrome molly roll cage that is tied into the diff mounts, the front and rear suspension, and all subframe attachment points. It comes with a Hotbits (custom built for me) coilover suspension. It was originally going to use a Recaro seat (carbon kevlar back that weighed an unbelievable 6.7lbs--most racing seats weigh 20 lbs). What you see is what you get. All glass is still in the car. I would advise poly, slider windows and leave the front and rear glass for safety. The sunroof does need a replacement panel. The reason I am selling is I am tight on money. I am starting a car dealer and I do not have enough money to finish this poor car. If you know anything about the old DTM series, you will know just how potent it's potential is. This car was the underdog that came though and beat everybody out of its way to victory. 375hp, 300tq and 2050lbs with driver. The cage in this car cost well over the $20k mark. Most cage's cost about $5-7k, but in order to save about 35lbs from the design, we went with the chrome molly. It was welded by an expert, and heat treated so it's not brittle at the seams like most chrome molly. The sound proofing/rust proofing on the bottom of the car cost another $7500 to remove. It was about 3/4 of an inch thick and a real hassle. The bodykit cost roughly around $5500 and took four months to have built. It is an exact replica of the DTM bodykit. All of the markings and cuts have been made, all you have to do is screw it on. I would recommend some bondo around the seams if you want to use it as a show car as well. The car has never been crashed, and all the whole car has been seam welded. The car DOES have a valid title and can be built so it is STREET LEGAL. All VIN numbers are on the car. You will have to buy an engine, wiring harness, ecu, race seat, the basics. I can and more than willing to help out any way I can. Please ask as many questions as you have. Obviously there is no warranty, what you see is what you get. If you have zero feedback please email me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. Buyer is responsible for pickup/transport and obviously no returns.
