Up for sale is a very clean, low mileage 1998 Jaguar XJ8. I have recently gone part time from my career of 25 years to peruse my passion for cars. I have a friend with a dealers license which I am using to scour auctions across the country for interesting cars that catch my attention, bring them back to life and pass them on to other enthusiasts, this is my latest find. I am a Jaguar lover, I am currently in the process of restoring a 1971 v-12 XKE (for myself) and just yesterday bought a 2001 XKR convertible to resell as well. When I bought this Jaguar it was not running, turns out the problem was simply the fuel pump, a common problem on these cars. ,I replaced the pump and the Jaguar easily purred to life. I also noticed the serpentine belt was in pretty bad shape so I replaced it as well. As far as I can tell everything on this car works, or at least everything I have tried, there are buttons and switches everywhere on the dash, I have only tried the basics but this car is fully equipped from front and rear heated seats to steering wheel radio controls and everything imaginable in between, way too much to list! No trouble codes come up on the computer (it monitors everything, it told me the windshield washer fluid was low so I topped it up) so I assume everything is in good shape. The only thing you will need in the near future is a set of tires, the currrent tires are only at about 50%, they will get you where you need to go but budget for tires in the next year. The car currently only has just under 75,000 miles, it is extremely clean, no rips, stains or odors. I might add that most all XJ8’s of this age have a sagging headliner, this one was no exception so I had it replaced, turned out great, I really want everything on this car to be perfect. The paint is in excellent condition, a few small dings but otherwise nearly perfect. It appears to have had some front end damage at one time, I can tell because I have repaired a lot of cars, most people would never notice, you probably wouldn't unless I pointed it out and to be honest I am not even sure what I would show you, just something about it tells me. I am only mentioning this because I don’t want there to be any surprises, you will not be disappointed, everything lines up well and the car drives great, no worries. This is a very comfortable car, rear seat is very spacious, plenty of leg room to really stretch out. The 4.0 liter V-8 puts out 290 HP yet still gets 24 mpg on the highway, very few cars this size with this much comfort come close to this Jaguar. This car is a pure joy to drive, as with all the cars I buy I really would love to keep this one, it is an amazing machine, if you have never driven one you owe it to yourself to be treated like royalty, it truly is the vehicle of Kings and Queens. Similar XJ8's in this condition and mileage are offered at three times the price I am starting this auction and there is no reserve, don't miss this deal! In this price range there is nothing that comes close to the luxury, comfort, driveability and safety of this car, keep in mind that this was nearly a $60,000 car when new and that was 13 years ago, consider what else you can get at this price and you will keep coming back to this Jaguar and will never look back! I have added a picture showing the wear, as you can see it is only the color that is worn off, the leather is still in great shape!
