Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1937 Packard 115 three (3) window Coupe. I have had this car for some time and I am ready to sell. I have walnut shell blasted the car and then lightly hit it with 80 grit aluminum oxide to remove the last of the orange hue post media blasting. The car is bare metal and has been metal treated using a product made by PPG. It has been as seen in these pictures for several, if not longer, months. I bought this car from a friend of a friend, not knowing the front fenders that I purchased were for a 120 model and did not fit. After a search throughout the country and the assistance of Mr. Koller and the 'Flackmaster' I have been able to not only buy a complete second car, but also find what seemed to be one of the only pair of fenders available in the country for this car, and a fine pair they are. I have been able to assemble what you see with the right front fenders. With the help of the folks above and others I was also able to get better handles, running boards, headlights to at least have what I would consider to be complete car for a project person like me. This has no motor, no transmission, no gauges or wiring. It also might be difficult to do a full original restoration as much of the original car is missing, like the motor and tranny, and the suspension is in need of rehabilitation. The car does have all the metal and is as seen in the photos. The front fenders, radiator surround, firewall, rear trunk lid and cab are in very good condition. I also have the rear deck lid original hinges. While the outer door skins are in good shape, the bottom of the doors and the floor boards have rust and need repairs. The rear fenders have been beat up, but are savable. The cab, drip rails and all the interior garnish moldings are present and in better than expected condition and is nearly rust free and very solid metal. The doors, door hardware and hinges all work well. The window mechanisms are in place and work. Notice in the pictures, the lead solder is still intack and in good shape. The rockers between the running boards and body are beat up and will need repairs. There are good running board supports with some minor rust holes in the running boards. The car is, as is, and I can provide a bonded title. The title is bonded for three years, then released from the bond to a 'real' title. I have done this on cars that I have built and it works well. I have an original radiator that I will not use, that can go with this car. The car has an original front seat that is complete and needing to be reupolstered. The wood in the car is near gone. I have one set of glass that is new and complete without rubber. It is tinted (smoke) and I will include it with the car wrapped in an unopened box. The car will come on rolling tires, but most likely not the ones in the pictures. I have an alternate set on my second car for shipping purposes, to be used on this vehicle. The wheels are not correct for the packard. The wheels in these photos include two factory style 16 inch, and two 13 inch junk rims with tires that hold air. I have taken the front springs out to get a lowered look and can provide them if you want. The rear springs have been heated to lower the car in the rear, but if you think you need factory old springs, I can send you two others. The passager door is missing the vent window divider, but I can either provided one or push you in the right direction. So if you need the piece, email first before bidding and discuss your plans further with me directly. I will also provided one nice pair of 115 C headlights as seen in the picture, instead of the 120 lights on the car. Please note the 120 lights will be removed and 115 C headlights packed with the car. I thought about priming the car, until a recently saw another 37 for sale with grey primer. I felt that if I had bought that one off ebay, I would end up stripping it anyway, so here you go bare metal. All in all, this is a complete car for someone who knows what to do with it, to create a driver. I am willing to discuss providing some additional body or suspension work, but call me on it first as it is outside of this auction. Here is my situation, I have come to the opinion that I can only biuld about three more complete cars, a few extra motors and by then, my eyes and hands will most likely quit working. I have decided to just build for me and minimize distractions. I am liquidating the tin and speed equipment I will most likely not use for the next few projects. I have a HEMI, or two, that will make a nice power plant for this car, but are not included in this auction. Let me know what you want and what your goals are. Good luck bidding, See my other auctions. Gary. On Dec-06-11 at 06:16:29 PST, seller added the following information: So I am sitting here reading some messages from the 'Flackmaster' and was looking at another 37 Packard car recently sold. We had been commenting at what was incomplete on that car, comparing the two, acknowledging the persistence of the seller, and wondering what was under the primer! David reminded me of the fact that he has all the goodies to convert my coupe to a convertible - a convertible kit, with a convertible cowl, windshield, doors, small trunk lid, fender steps, top irons, header bow....etc.etc.etc. I recall talking to him about it but in Texas I had a topless car once and want to stay with a coupe body. He has the parts available, but they are not included in this auction. If you have got to have a topless car, I can point you in the right direction. My feeling is that you would have a better start with this car and package. If my car is missing something you have got to have, I know where to find it. So send me questions or ask questions, while bidding. Take care. Gary On Dec-06-11 at 06:40:21 PST, seller added the following information: I also wanted to post a picture of a car that belonged to someone who donated spare parts to this coupe. See, he did the same thing as me and had bought a 115C but only had the 120 fenders. Unfortunately he spent laborious hours making the 120 fenders look as they do on his car, and then the 115 C fenders he had been trying to find ended up at his door, a day late and quite a few dollars more. Thanks for the fenders. While I focus my car biulding on a more nostalgic finished product, his car is a stunning example of a pro-street, big block-1200 HP powered Packard. The red car is not for sale and is not included in this auction, just something to look at. GGOn Dec-11-11 at 16:02:31 PST, seller added the following information:Hey Packard bidders and watchers, final 24 hours of the listing. The low reserve has been hit. Good luck bidding, bid strong and don't wait for last second. I have had numerous calls this week by the guys that let some of my other auctions tic down and they just could not get enough counter bidding in at the last minute. They were wishing they got it when it was too late. Good luck. Gary
