Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE You are bidding on a 1968 shortbed chevy heavy half ton truck. I’ve had this truck since I was 16 years old; bought it to go get hay for my horses. Quickly thereafter converted it to a street rod. As far as I know the truck has always been in Arizona but it for sure has been in AZ for the past 24 years (since I’ve owned it). When I was driving it, it had a big block 400 in it – but I sold the motor in it awhile back, therefore no motor. It’s been stored inside a shop out of the elements. Last time I had it on the road was 2003. I’ve been out of work and need the money, plus I just don’t see me ever restoring this truck at this point given the other projects I have so that is why I am selling her. She does need restoration. Positives: -its coming with four, very nice, centerline rims. 15X10 rears, 15X8 fronts (6-lug wheels) -its coming with a Turbo 400 transmission (but no motor) -the rear-end has a posi-unit in it (12 bolt) -it’s a short-bed – these are becoming pretty rare, especially the 67 & 68 body style -its coming with nice big-block Hedman headers and custom exhaust (nice mufflers – good rumble) -great front tires, practically new tread. Rear tires are tubed tires and bad though (tires and tubes) – will need to replace those -All the glass is there although there are a couple of small chips in the windshield -I have a powersteering unit (with gearbox) and powerbrake unit that I’ll let go with the truck, although the truck did not come with these items factory. Negatives: -The front passenger’s side fender is full of bondo. I’m letting a new, good, straight fender go with the truck (I can send you a picture if you request it) -small dent on the hood – that shiny spot you see was just a bit of clear that was sprayed on it to “test” and it’s now peeling – there is only a very small dent (easily fixable) -the rear driver’s side of the bed fender is flattened – my ex-husband ran into another car with it when he was backing up. They sell the rear patch panel by itself to repair this so it’s an easy fix for someone who can weld. -there is some small rust forming on the runners under the door, these probably need replaced. If you know what you are doing you can cut it out and fill it in with metal as it’s not that bad. -Interior needs to be redone. Everything is there but old – restoration necessary. -there is a sunroof cut into the roof. I always hated that but it’s there. It doesn’t leak but it isn’t a great job. I was always going to chop the top, which requires on these trucks a second roof anyway, and do away with it but never got there. -The truck was lowered significantly, rear has blocks put in – front springs were cut. They are pretty shot so you’d need to replace them. Frankly, the whole front suspension needs rebuilt. -There is no tailgate I will NOT SHIP THIS TRUCK – It’s up to you to come get it. It needs to be retrieved within two weeks of auction’s end – OTHERWISE $5 PER DAY STORAGE WILL BE CHARGED. I will not let the truck go without payment of the storage fees if you delay in picking it up! This is hard and fast UNLESS prior arrangements are made with me. I have a bunch of extra pictures I can send to you and am happy to take others if you like. On Nov-21-11 at 19:16:49 PST, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that the inner fenderwells inside the bed were slightly moved in to accommodate the wider tires. The bed is slightly cut as well. I have pictures of this I can send you. I just lowered the buy-it-now down to $1999 because $2000 is the cutoff for A LOT more ebay selling fees! So this is the reason for the change. Also, I have a 350 complete engine (minus carb and accessories - with a new aluminum manifold) that I can let go with the truck if the buy-it-now is hit. The engine had new rings and bearings put in it a few years go (was not bored) but has been sitting on an engine stand since and never fired. Email me if you want pictures. It should run. On Nov-28-11 at 20:17:24 PST, seller added the following information: Oops - made a mistake on the motor - it is a 327 small block chevy engine complete without distributor and carburetor. Engine Casting # 3932386 Suffix # V0928FB. Heads are off a 400 small block 70-76. The engine was reringed but not bored. It has been sitting on a stand ready to go into something for awhile. It is a stock motor and stock cam – don’t remember the cam specs. Has a nice Edelbrock manifold on it. Should run fine but has not been fired since assembly. It has been stored indoors on an engine stand. AGAIN - DISCLAIMER: The motor is ONLY going with the truck if someone purchases it at the BUY IT NOW price - otherwise the motor is not going with the truck if the reserve is met.
