Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1951 Chevy 3600 Truck. It retains what I believe to be the original engine and transmission, which are a 6cyl and 4 speed. The truck runs and drives excellent. Anybody that has heard it run cant believe how well it runs. The bed is all brand new metal including the stake pockets. The tailgate came with the truck and is in excellent condition. The running boards where shortened because the wheelbase is shorter than a long bed but longer than a short bed. It may have been a flatbed or dump truck. Maybe somebody on here will know. I think it looks excellent. The rear fenders have had all the rust cut out of them and new metal welded in. As far as bodywork we have done nothing with bondo or fillers except a little in the panel in between the running board and bed. I left it as bare as possible to show the condition of the truck. I primed all the new metal and painted it to keep it from rusting. We bent up metal to attach the running boards since we had none of the original brackets. It works fine, but it could stand some factory brackets. My original plan was to hot-rod the truck with a sub frame and small block, etc. It is just too nice to start cutting up. The dash is uncut and perfect. The floors are as solid as can be. The seat is original and in excellent condition. Doors and windows work well and it still has the heater. I have driven probably 15-20 miles and never missed a beat. I probably got it up to at least 60, which is close to max speed. It definitely hadn’t been driven much before that. The brakes and drive train work extremely well and is still on the 6 volt system. It does leak a little oil when it sits. It would be a nice advertising truck or parade truck the way it is. I’m not sure how popular these are for the antique original guys, but if they are out there this deserves a restore. It would be an excellent hot rod platform too, but I just couldn’t do it. Besides that I have too many projects at this time. The wiring is terrible. All the factory fuse blocks, ignition, etc is there. There just aren’t any wires. It has been wired to run and drive and that’s it. I think somebody started a “project” by cutting the wires out then abandoned it. Also the exhaust has been cut. Starter is the pedal on the floor. Truck came out of South Dakota according to the license plate and was last plated in 82. Currently has a Wisconsin title. The driver’s side cab corner is gone and that’s really the only serious rust. The driver’s side front fender has a tiny spot too, but could probably be welded up. Truck is being sold as is and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime since it’s for sale locally.
