Vehicle Detail
1971 Ford LTD Convertible - 42,000 documented original miles! Green inside and out with a BRAND NEW white top, professionally installed. Original green paint is in fair condition, could use a respray. I bought this car because it is structurally and mechanically in excellent condition, and needs only an easy cosmetic restoration. Circumstances have changed and I don't have time to finish the project, so it is time for this great car to find a new home. The "green monster" fires right up with a youthful vigor uncommon in a 40 year old vehicle. It runs and drives well, cruising smoothly up to triple digit speeds with ease thanks to the powerful 351 Windsor V8. The automatic transmission is tight and responsive, and the brakes work very well. The tires are in very good shape as well. The interior is in very good condition, with power windows and big, comfortable bench seats, plus a power convertible top. The window switch trim bezels are off the switches as I was going to remove the door panels during the restoration (I was going to get a respray) and they are a pain to remove, so I left them off for the new owner. You can snap them back on easily if desired. The master panel on the driver's door is missing the switch for the passenger's front window, but you can still work the window by pressing the contact plates. A replacement switch is included, as are a bunch of other parts I bought to restore this car. This includes a grille emblem, most tune-up parts except wires, cap, rotor, points and condensor (those were just installed, so they are included but not separately) shop manuals for the 1972 model which is 99% identical, a spare emergency brake assembly (the original unit has trouble catching, but the brake itself holds the car firmly in place) a brand new NOS outside mirror, the original interior rear view mirror (this was detached when I bought the car and I haven't re-installed) the original parade boot, shown partially installed (you have to unzip the rear window to install the boot, which is a little bit of a pain). The body is in good shape, with little rust. I have tried to picture as much of it as I can, including removing trim panels to show the small areas of rust-through on the forward lower edge of the passenger's door, the right quarter panel beneath the trim, and the moderate perforation starting on the inside of the rear lower edge of the passenger's door. Otherwise, the car is very rust-free and overall this car needs very little bodywork to be in perfect shape. The underside is surprisingly clean and free from rust or damage. The top of the trunk has two small dings, and the driver's door trim is dented slightly as well. I have a source for all of the parts you could need for this car and I will pass that info on to the buyer. The electrical system has a few little gremlins that would take little time to work out, but the car passes inspection as-is. I just let it lapse as I was in the process of preparing to restore the car fully and had it unregistered at the time. Most recent sticker shown. I am asking less than half the market price of this car - buy in the off-season and save! This car needs only easy restoration work to be a great fun summer cruiser. Thanks for looking, and let me know if you have any questions. I have many pics if you would like to see more of this car. I have a clear title ready to go, the original owner's manual, and a paint chip sheet so you can get an exact factory match for the respray. I also have a set of chrome Cragar 15X8 Smoothie wheels and custom aluminum hub-centric spacers for this car for sale in another auction - please view my other items for sale to learn more.
