Vehicle Detail
This is anamazing car and even these high resolution photos will have difficulty showing how niceit really is. She was sold new here in Portland Oregon at Harlan Griffith Ford on October 21st, 1967 (6 days after I was born!) and started life as a standard Mustang C-code 289 Coupe with Deluxe interior. The original license plates are still on the car. The car remained with the original owner until 1994 when she became too old to drive. Gargaged all of it's life and well cared for. Rust-free and one of the most solid examples anyone will find. Even the undersides are gorgeous. The body, paint and interior are excellent. The 390 powered drivetrain functions superbly. Even if I didn't type another word you'd be able to form a clear impression for yourself after the first few photos. For those that prefer a more detailed and informative write-up, here it is:Body and paint are beautiful. 100% rust free and solid. All panelshave nice fit, gaps and alignment. Paint is less than 5 years old and done very well. Taken to bare metal prior to paint. There are no dents, dings, scratches or chips. Reflections can be seen everywhere you look. The car is extremely straight. No washboard effect as you look down the sides. The California Special accessories, front spoiler, hood scoop, etc, also fit correctly. The CSrear spoiler, side ventsand tail-light panelmaintain an authentic appearance. All exterior chrome, both bumpers, stainless trim molding, emblems and lenses are excellent. All glass is crystal clear. The vinyl top is perfect. This is ahard car to pick apart. Simply a gorgeous car from every angle. Compliments areoverwhelming everytime I open my garage and she deserves all of them. Body and paint condition are impressive. The deluxe interior requires no excuses. Theseats, door panels, carpet, headliner, over-head console and dashboard are all excellent. Very rare front bench seat with center armrest. All gauges, lights, turn signals, heater, wipers and even the original AM radio are fully functioning. The hornhas stopped working. There is some pitting on the chrome that surrounds the wing vent windows and rear side glass but only visible on close inspection. The interior is exceptionally nice. One look inside is all it takes. The drivetrain is outstanding. The rebuilt 390-V8 runs perfectly. Has the desireable larger crank and mains. Built to stock type specs with factory exhaust manifolds. Very smooth running. Starts easily even after sitting ignored for extended periods. Throttle response and acceleration from the Holley 4bbl are crisp. Always stays cool even in traffic. The C-6 transmission has also been rebuilt and shifts flawlessly. The rear end with 2.79:1 highway gearing is church quiet. There is no evidence of fluid leaks on my garage floor. Power steering and suspension are tight and sound. The power brakes were recently gone through and stop correctly. This car has no clunks, rattles, pulls or vibrations of any kind. It is an absolute joy to drive. The dual exhaust system is new. The original style Magnum 500 chrome wheels have been custom made to 16 inch. 7 inch wide in front with 8 inch wide in the rear. Tires are also new. The perfect fit! This car couldn't have a better sit and stance. Needs nothing to be driven and enjoyed. Truly "turn-key".I will make a few brief comments under some of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for thekind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing myMustang in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo showsthecar clearly and accurately. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching thecar for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 29th ofNovember at 8PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and thecar becomes no longer available. PLEASE,read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my Mustang. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see2 days before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is mycar and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time and Happy Thanksgiving, DAVE The interior is excellent. Extremely sanitary and correct appearance in the engine compartment. Original owners manual and warranty cards. This is the package Ford should have offered. Definitely a one of a kind. PLEASE NOTE: Car is a "real" red, not orangeish-red. Most photos show the color correctly. Direct sun plays tricks on even expensive camera's. That is just the reflection of a leaf on the rear quarter behind the tire, not a paint flaw. I added the Cobra Jet emblem. All glass is crystal clear. Original, day-one Oregon license plates. The only set the car has ever had. The paint throughout the entire car is gorgeous. Reflections of leaves on the ground can be seen in many of these photos. The hood, fenders, headlight extentions, grille, bumper and spoiler fit together beautifully. Car has never been wrecked. Again- The sunlight plays tricks on the true color. Many years ago the left rear tire came off at low speed and damaged this portion of the quarter panel. Loose lugnuts were to blame. NO damage remains but felt compelled to mention this. This photo best shows the real, in person color. Yes, the hood locks operate correctly. The entire car was completely taken apart and stripped to bare metal. Even under the vinyl top is rust-free. A high quality and time consuming restoration was performed to an already incredible car. Thousands of dollars and countless man-hours have been invested. This photo was taken shortly after completion. Driving here in Downtown Portland the day I took these photos. This was Sunday, the 20th of November. Probably our last nice day. Doesn't it look like that little gray Hyundai is sitting still? We were going 60mph. Original steering wheel is beautiful. No cracks and the horn pad is gorgeous. There was a Stereo mounted under the factory radio. Speakers are still there. Seats are excellent. No rips or tears. As mentioned previously- The door panels, carpet, headliner and dashboard are in wonderful condition. All dash brightwork is outstanding. The original radio plays perfectly. Total mileage travelled is 166,858 in 43 years. I wanted to show the speedometer working. I only looked away from the road for a second. Trunk is 100% solid and rust-free. The black panels are the tail light covers. Most Mustangs of this vintage have stressed and cracked shock-towers. Not my car. Both towers are excellent. The undersides we pray to find. NEVER exposed to salted roads or harsh de-icer chemicals. Floors are gorgeous. Light factory undercoating only. Even the torque boxes are excellent. It was easy to remove a small area of undercoating to show the beautiful original floors. There isn't even any rust-scale. Hard to find like this. I have 2 brand new extra 16 inch rear wheels that are included. These are the original roof gutter drip rail moldings. I prefer the appearance without them but they are included. Ford cast iron 4bbl intake with Holley carburetor. I do have the electronic sequential units for the tail lights if you prefer that style of turn signal. The stripes are for the rear portion of the quater panels. Again, I prefered the look without them. Clear Oregon title and file of receipts. She is a car that generates an abundance of attention. Saying that the photos don't do the car justice is an understatement. Absolutely stunning in person.
