Here i am selling my 1982 Mercedes 300CD turbo diesel coupe . 1982 was the first year Mercedes introduced the turbo charger for the coupes in the 123 series . The 3 liter 5 cylinder engine was already well known for being reliable and economical . Now with the turbo , they also had plenty of power . Mercedes only made 8007 of the diesel coupes and a lot less of the turbo version .  This particular car only has about 174k miles on it , which is considered low miles for this engine . These cars are known to go for 500k miles and more without any major engine work . There are several cars with the same engine on Ebay right now with over 400k miles and still running well . If you keep taking care of this kind of car , they can last you a lifetime .  This 300CD was finished in black with Palomino color MB-Tex interior . This must be one of the most elegant color combinations out there . The body and the paint are in great condition . There are no dings or dents and the paint still shines like new . The interior is in wonderful shape as well , as the pictures will show . There are no rips or tears in the seats , the original carpets are clean and even the wood is in excellent condition . There are no cracks in the wood panels at all and they look like new . Just last week i went to Palm Springs from Los Angeles ( about 100 miles) and the car drives great . It cruises comfortably at 85 mph and still averages 27 mpg of diesel . There is plenty of power and it is not slow at all . The transmission shifts perfectly through all the gears . We just recently had a full service done on the car . The valves were adjusted , the fluids and filters changed . We had a new hood insulation pad installed and the brakes in the front are new as well . The radio should be changed eventually , as it only works sometimes .  This car would also be a perfect candidate for a bio diesel conversion . You can already drive it with straight bio diesel . But once you do a conversion on it , you could even drive it with waste oil from restaurants . I have never tried it , but with gas prices where they are today , it sounds like a great idea .  I would prefer to sell this car to somebody local who could actually come by and see it / test drive it before placing a bid . But i would also be willing to help with shipping arrangements or a airport pick up for any out of town buyer . I only ask that you have your financing in order and do all your "due diligence" BEFORE placing a bid . This is a wonderful almost 30 year old car and it will be sold without a warranty "as is" and " where is " . Please feel free to ask any questions before placing a bid .
