Vehicle Detail
Hello, let me start by saying that I realize how stressful it can be to buy anything sight un-seen. I don't think a paragraph & 1 or 2 pictures is enough to accurately describe an item of any kind, let alone a motor vehicle. I understand that you may be in a different state or even a different Country & therefore are unable to come view this Dodge in person. I want you to know everything I know about anything I offer for sale. For that reason, my postings tend to be a little on the long side. I also post 24 super sized pictures. Please take the time to read the item description & view the pictures. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. All will be answered promptly. I have sold diesel trucks to buyers all over the world. All members who have bought diesels from me have been extremely pleased with my performance & the items they have purchased from me, I'm sure you will be as well. Description- Let me start by saying, THIS IS A GREAT TRUCK. I will only own a Dodge diesel because I have had all the others & neither Ford nor Chevrolet can provide the power, fuel mileage, & long life that you get from a Cummins powered Dodge. This 2002 Laramie SLT was recently traded in on a new dually at my local Dodge dealership. I happened to see it & bought it on the spot. I didn't need the truck as I have 2 already but these trucks are so hard to find at a reasonable price, I couldn't resist. I have seen what people want for ugly, rusty, junk trucks on here. Most of them are over priced & don't sell. This super very rare, 6 speed, 4wd, diesel puts most of those trucks to shame. Plus this is a NO RESERVE auction so you know it is going to sell at a great price. I have owned several of these Cummins powered Dodges. My Father has one & my Uncle has 3. I am very familiar with these trucks & this is a good one. Drivetrain- This truck is powered by the legendary 24-valve, 5.9 liter, in-line six cylinder, Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. I have owned every kind of diesel powered truck imaginable & the 24-valve Cummins is hands down the most powerful, durable, trouble free & fuel efficient diesel ever put in a pickup. This particular engine runs just as it should. The engine is quiet & smooth. There is no blow-by at all... NONE! No smoke. No skipping. No missing. No overheating. Nothing but clean, smooth power. There have been NO performance modifications made to the truck. Everything is bone stock. It is just like the Dodge engineers designed it to be. 2002 was the last year for this amazing engine. The 2003-07 5.9's were not nearly as long lasting. The 08 & up 6.7's have numerous, serious issues & don't provide nearly the fuel mileage you will enjoy from this 2002! I have owned both the 12 valve & the 24 valve Cummins engines. Both are great diesels but personally I feel the 24 valve motors, like the one in this truck, are the better of the two. Unlike the older 12 valves, these 24 valve engines are electronically injected & have 2 more valves per cylinder. This lets the engine take in fuel more efficiently & breathe much better on both the intake & the exhaust strokes. The end result is an engine that has nearly 100 more horsepower & around 100 more ft lbs. of torque than the older 12 valve motors. These 24 valves are also far quieter & much more fuel efficient than the 12 valve models. Though this truck is showing 267,562 miles it is easy to tell that it has been taken care of. This engine runs as good as the day it was born. I can find no problems with this Cummins at all. No hard starting even on the coldest mornings. You can let this truck sit for days & go right out, hit the key & she fires right up on the 1st try every time. The oil pressure comes right up & holds 40 lbs at idle all day long. I see no major fluid leaks. I have learned over the years that every diesel weeps a little oil once it is broken in. This Dodge is no different. There are no abnormal noises. Like I said, nothing but smooth power. I have personally owned these 24 valve powered Dodges with well over 700,000 miles that were still going strong without any major engine repairs. The Cummins in this 3/4 ton dodge should last for many 100's of thousands of miles to come. This truck is factory equipped with the very hard to find 6-speed manaul transmission which is far superior to the automatic or 5-speeds models. Not only does the six speed provide you with better starting & stopping control when towing a load.... it also provides you with much better fuel mileage than the other transmissions offered in these trucks. Plus, unlike the 5-speed or automatic, these 6spd's are bulletproof! The clutch feels good. The brakes do not pulsate & stop straight & true. The 4-wheel drive system works just as it should. The transfer case is controlled using the stick in the floor, so you know it's engaged. None of that push button or electric dash switch b/s you find in some other models. When you need 4wd...... pull the lever to the desired selection & you're ready to go! All selections work as they should. This transfer case is nice & tight. Both the front & rear differentials are quiet & tight. Mechanically this entire truck seems to be in excellent condition. Body & Frame- This is a life long Southern vehicle so there is absolutely no rust or corrosion on anything anywhere. All of the body panels line up as they should. The door, hood & tailgate hinges & latches are nice & tight. As to be expected with a used pick-up of this year & mileage, there are a few minor dings, scratches & rock chips here & there. The worst of these is a very shallow series of dents on the rear of the bed, just in front of the tail light & bumper, on the driver's side. It is not very noticable & really doesn't take away from the looks of this Super Sharp truck at all. However, I'm sure you could easily remove it should you decide to do so. I see no evidence that the truck has ever been wrecked or repainted. When I bought this Dodge the clear coat on the hood & roof was badly faded, which is common on the black & dark green trucks. I had the hood & roof stripped to bare metal & repainted. It looks very good! The paint matches perfectly & you would never know it had been sprayed without a very close inspection. The paint shop did heat the paint too much with their buffer in one small spot on the right side of the hood but it is not noticable & could be wet sanded out if you wanted. I didn't see any point in it. The truck looks great & runs great just like it is. I did nothing more than hand wash & dry the truck & you can see by the pictures that the paint still has a great shine. You can see the reflection of everything around the truck in the paint. You can even see me in a couple of the pictures. I did not have the truck waxed & didn't touch up any chips or scratches as I wanted you to see the truck as it looks everyday. Just imagine how nice it would be with a good detail job! The under side of the truck is as clean as the outer body. Everything is straight, tight & free from corrosion. Looking under this Dodge, it is easy to see it has not been used off road very much if any. Interior- This 2002 is equipped with the 4 door access cab option which makes it so much easier on the rear passengers. All of the doors open & close just like new. There is no hinge play or door sag at all. 2002 was the last year for the access cab. From 2003 up, Dodge only offered single or crew cab models. Because it is so short, this access cab... short bed, is not nearly as bulky to drive as most 3/4 tons. The inside of this truck is as nice as the outside. The headliner is perfect. The full rear bench seat will accomodate 3 adults comfortably & will also fold up to allow for large cargo or luggage to be stored inside the truck's cab. The rear seat upholstery is perfect. The 3-way split front bench will seat 3 adults comfortably or fold down the large center console & it is just like having buckets. Both the driver side & passenger side seats are fully independant of each other & both have fully adjustable backrests. The driver's seat is also power. The front seats in this Dodge are in above average condition, though the leather does show some wear. There are only a couple of very minor splits on the side of the seat bottoms. This is a good indication that all of the miles put on this vehicle have been freeway miles! Another good indication is the lack of wear on the brake & clutch pedals. Applying the brake & clutch frequently at red lights & when changing speeds in around town driving causes the brake & clutch pedal pads to wear thin over the years. The pedal pads in this Dodge shows LITTLE TO NO WEAR! So even though this truck has what most people would call (high mileage) you can bet that all of the miles were made during freeway driving which is far easier on the vehicle than in-town driving. Lack of wear on the seat & lack of wear on the pedals, equals lack of wear on every other part of this truck! As with most 1994 - 2002 Dodge trucks, this one has a few cracks in the dash. They are not as bad as many I have seen & most people would never notice them. THEY ARE MINOR. However, I found a company who makes a molded nylon cover for these dashes which has the same look, feel & texture of the factory dash. I bought one for my Dad's truck & it made the dash look just like new again. You can't tell it is a cover at all. Personally the tiny cracks don't bother me at all but I do have the info in case you decide you'd like to order a cover. Because this is an SLT Laramie it is loaded. It has chrome bumpers & trim. (there is a dent in the back bumper) It has the deluxe leather power seats. It has power windows, power locks, power mirrors, tilt steering, cruise control, full instrumentation, intermittant wipers, premium sound system with CD, overhead console with compass & thermometer. This Dodge is also equipped with a factory keyless entry / alarm system complete with key fob. Factory tinted glass with factory privacy tinted access door glass. Factory rear sliding glass etc... There are no cracks in any of the glass. All of the power options work just as they should. Options- There is an electric trailer brake controller under the dash, a heavy duty receiver hitch under the rear bumper, & a hide-away gooseneck ball hitch in the bed. The inside of the bed has been spray lined by Line-X. Tires & Wheels- This truck is equipped with a set of factory 16 inch, pollished alloy, premium wheels. All four are in excellent condition. However, the tires are oversized. They are 315/75/16 Kumho Radials, which are larger than factory. As a result, the very tips of the inside treads rub on the lower control arms when the steering wheel is cut to the extreme right or left. It is not doing any kind of damage to the truck as it BARELY touches when the wheel is turned ALL the way to one side or the other. The biggest thing I dont like is that the oversized tires make the truck far less responsive. The truck still drives straight & true but doesn't feel as crisp as it should. I don't see anything worn under the front end. The ball joints & tie rods look good. The tires are all wearing evenly. They are not feathering or cupping. The tires are all matching & have a lot of tread life remaining. You could drive on these for many many more miles. But personally, I would install the factory recommended tires size. It will just drive so much better. Title- I have a clean, clear, fully transferable GA title on this vehicle. I own a small street rod shop & in order to purchase this truck on the spot, I had to buy it in my business name. This means that the sale is just like that on one of my streetrods. If you are an out of state resident you will only pay your winning eBay bid amount. You are exempt fron GA state sales tax. However, if you are a GA resident I must collect sales tax & pay it to the state on your behalf. The sales tax amount will be 7% of your winning bid amount. So if you are a GA bidder, you will have to pay 7% over your winning bid amount. If you are a non-Georgia bidder, you will not have to pay anything other than your winning bid amount. I DO NOT charge a doc fee or any other fees like most sellers on eBay do. What you bid is what you pay. * This is a TRUE auction! * NO RESERVE! * Low starting bid! * You set the final price! * Bid what you think the truck is worth to you! * If you are the high bidder at the end... YOU WIN! BIDDING- Please only bid what you are prepared to pay for this vehicle. Anyone wishing to inspect the truck or have the truck inspected is welcome to do so but inspections must be completed prior to bidding & prior to auction's end. If you have little or no feedback please do not bid without first sending me your contact info through the ASK SELLER A QUESTION link in this listing so that we can speak on the phone prior to you placing your bid. I have encountered a couple of crooks/ scammers here on eBay who have cost me both time & money. This will no longer be tolerated so if you are not a SERIOUS buyer, PLEASE MOVE ON. All members with a genuine interest in this vehicle are more than welcome to ask questions. All will be answered promptly. If you look at my feedback comments you will see that all of the REAL buyers have been very happy after dealing with me. Many of the comments are from people who have been very happy with diesel trucks they have bought from me. SHIPPING- Shipping costs & arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. However, I have assisted buyers & their shippers in the pickup of several vehicles over the years. I can recommend several shippers who have performed well for buyers in the past but you will have to make your own arrangements with them. I will work with you & your shipper so that they can get this truck to you as fast & cost effectively as possible. However, no matter where you live, the point of sell will be here in GEORGIA as that is where I live & where the vehicle is located. As always, you are more than welcome to pick this vehicle up in person. I will be more than happy to pick you up at the Atlanta Airport or local Amtrac station, free of charge, if you would like to drive this truck home. This Dodge is truly a rare find. The fact that it is a life long Southern vehicle & a new car trade-in means that you don't have to worry about rust or rust repair & you can bet that the truck has been well cared for over the years. Then add in the fact that this is a 24 valve Cummins diesel powered, SLT Laramie that has obviously never been abused & spent most of it's life on the freeway. Combine that with the fact that this is a SIX SPEED MANUAL. All of these things add up to make this the perfect truck for just about anybody or any task. Whether you need to haul your boat to the lake or camper to the mountains. Or maybe you need to tow a 1, 2 or 3 car trailer across the country. Or take your race car to the track. Or pull your hay trailer around the farm, or livestock to the show. No matter what kind of work you do... this Dodge will get the job done efficiently & in total comfort. I wish I could keep it. I know I won't find another like this. But, on the bright side, you are going to get a great truck at a small fraction of the cost of a new one. This Dodge will handle the toughest of jobs with ease & still get better fuel mileage than a Toyota Tacoma! When you are not using this Dodge as a hauler, it can easily be a daily commuter. It is not too big & bulky. The short bed & single rear tires make this very capable 3/4 ton Dodge as easy to maneuver as any 1/2 ton truck. The 24 Valve diesel offers plenty of pep & excellent fuel economy. The truck's not new. It has it's flaws. But it IS mechanically sound & cosmetically... well just look at the pictures! The truck looks great! It's just an all around great truck. A similarly equipped, NEW Dodge diesel would set you back nearly $50,000.00! This truck is going to sell for a small fraction of that price & this truck does not have any of the problems you find with the new models. Remember... NO RESERVE! Thanks for your interest in my Dodge. I hope you win!! JD P.S. My camera is giving me trouble. That is why some of the pictures look tilted & why the date is not correct. These pictures were all taken by me yesterday. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. Here is a little bit of additional info - This 2002 RAM was built in Mexico & has the best of the 24 valve Cummins engines.... This is a true H.O. (high-Output) Cummins which was only offered in 6-speed trucks. Dodge did NOT put the H.O. in automatic or 5-speed Ram2500's or 3500's. Many people think that all Cummins Diesels are High-Output & list their trucks as having a 5.9 liter H.O. diesel..... but if their truck is not a 6-speed... they are wrong. If it is not a 6-speed, it DOES NOT have this High-Output engine. The engine code found in the 8th digit of the VIN is "c". That means this truck DOES HAVE the H.O. motor with the thick Mexican engine block. This engine is factory rated at 505 lbf-ft of torque, verses 460 lbf-ft you get with the standard Cummins found in most Dodges. This H.O. also has 10 more HP than the standard non-H.O. Cummins. This truck is rated at 245 vs 235. People spend thousands of dollars on performance upgrades to gain 45 foot pounds of torque & 10 horsepower! This rare Dodge diesel has the upgraded power designed into it... straight from the Cummins factory! I hope this information helps. Thanks again for your interest. I hope you win! JD
