Vehicle Detail
I am going to attempt to describe this vehicle as accurately as possible: For sale is my 1995 Pontiac Trans Am. I purchased the car in Fort Myers FL a few years ago. Being a FL car, the undercarriage is extraordinarily clean. There is none of the flaky nasty rust that you get with any car that has been driven during the winter in Chicagoland. I have garaged this car during the winters, and I haven't driven the car until May to make sure the salt has all washed off of the roadway to preserve this state. This vehicle has 72,230 miles. It has T-Tops, a 6 speed manual transmission, 5.7L LT1, BBK headers, and MSD ignition. The car is a strong runner, as one would expect with the low miles for the year. The previous owner related the car had just been tuned up prior to purchase (that's what I was told so I can not guarantee the validity of that statement). I replaced the fuel pump about a year ago. After I had dropped the exhaust in preparation for dropping the tank, I observed that a previous owner had obviously replaced the fuel pump once before and instead of doing it properly they had cut a hole in the trunk floor, replaced the fuel pump, and then tarred their patch panel back in. I would have done it properly, but I was stripped of that opportunity by the previous owner. Not that big of a deal at the end of the day because its under the trunk carpet and if you ever have to replace the fuel pump again (the in-tank fuel pumps in these cars are not known for their longevity which is evidenced by the fact that this car has 72k and it's on its 3rd fuel pump (minimum) already) it will be an easy swap out. The transmission and clutch function perfectly. The transmission still has that goofy skip shift, which I would have installed an eliminator if I was going to keep the car but I'm not so I'll leave that up to the next guy. This vehicle has the factory CD player. The guy I bought the car from said it didn't work and I've never tested it out. The radio works fine and it has the dash mounted controls which function fine as well as the power antenna. Car has power mirrors which work fine. The power windows work fine too, but the passenger side is a little slow and I fear that motor may go at some point. The pop-up headlights work, but similarly the passenger side makes a bit of noise when you put it down so I don't know that it will last forever, but it has done the entire time I've owned the car and it still goes up and down every time. The car also has the in-bumper fog lights as well. I think the wiper blade control arms may need replacing, because I replaced the wiper blades and they don't really move the rain off of the windshield the way they should. The FL heat caused the headliner to fail, and I had the headliner and the visors professionally redone at a cost of $395. The FL heat also made the black dash pad crack. The guy I bought it from included a dash cover mat and I will include it in the purchase, however imho having a floor mat on your dashboard looks worse than a crack, but that's just me. I included pics of the dash cracks. I am attempting to be full disclosure; the cracks in the dash are merely an aesthetic issue however and don't effect the performance of the vehicle at all. The vehicle runs great (and looks great too) and is fun to cruise in. The interior is in pretty good shape overall. There is some wear to the driver's seat from 17 years of getting in and out. I did my best to present that in a photograph. There are also a couple of knicks in the paint along the edge of the driver's side door, and are really a byproduct of the fact that it's challenging to get out of this car when you are 6'3" 230 lbs. They just need a dab of touch up paint. The car has been repainted. The paint is nice... It is a blue over the original green which gives it a blue/teal sort of color. The front clip could probably use a repaint just because this thing is so low to the ground and it catches every pebble that bounces up off of the road. I also scraped the front clip under the license plate of my 1986 Ramcharger pulling into my driveway one time and that made 2 little knicks which I attempted to include a pic of, but again the front clip is fiberglass and will never rust and it could probably use a coat of paint if you wanted the thing to be a showboat. There is a little bit of rust/bubbling in one spot under one of the T-Tops. There is a small hairline crack in the ground effect under the driver's side door also if I failed to mention that already. I will attempt to include a pic later or message me if there is anything you want additional specific pics of, and I will go out and take them for you and send them to you. The rear trunk lid struts have been replaced. The trunk lid glass needs new weatherstrip, however. There is a small door ding which if I remember correctly is right above the rear passenger wheel, and there is a small hairline crack of the ground effect under the driver's side door. The tires have tread, but show signs of age. The gas gauge doesn't function properly; shows full until you get near empty then it bounces from full to empty. There is also a "coolant level" indicator that comes on sometimes, but the coolant level is fine and I'm guessing it's a faulty sensor that I didn't worry about replacing. I have a clean IL title. I really don't want to sell this car but plating, insuring, and storing 3 cars and motorcycle has become more than I want to deal with. I love this car, and I know someone else will too. It's not perfect, but very few 17 year old cars are and I have attempted to depict this car as accurately as possible and offer a good looking fun car at a fair price. You'll see from the pics, it's a hot car and it gets lots of compliments. Cash payment for the balance at the time of pickup. If you have any questions please feel free to message me any question I may have forgotten to address here. I don't want to store this car for the winter, so I have dropped the price significantly. I'm giving the thing away at this point, so this will be the last time I will be listing this vehicle this year... sale or no sale, I won't drop the price again. Thanks for your interest, Matt
