Just out of long-term storage, this 560 SL represents the zenith of the 107 series cars that Daimler Benz began producing in the early 1970’s. Most astute Daimler Benz admirers know the 560 version of the SL was the last of these boulevard cruisers and is the most sought after. There quality and detail combined with the rugged, powerful durability of the higher horsepower 5.6-liter dual overhead cam V-8 engine make them among the best and most iconic models ever to come from the Fatherland. From our reports, it appears this car has spent at least two decades here driving our Pacific Northwest roads an average of less than 4,750 miles per year. Smooth is the word for sure. Smooth powerful acceleration. Smooth handling in the curves or on the highway. Comfort, styling, and versatility all in one gorgeous ride. For my money, an SL of any variant is one of the best values for the overall driving experience that a vintage Benz has to offer. Look over my photos and I’m sure you’ll agree what a find this is. What you’re viewing is the result of a wash and vacuum only! I know you’ll admire its overall provenance. It has obviously been allowed to spend a majority of its life garaged because the overall exterior condition is equal to or better than most any other 25+ year-old Benz you’ll find out there. Rust? Please, this Mercedes HATES rust and you won’t find anything here to cause you concern! The Puget Sound area is famous for rain, but our winter roads are never salted. At the sign of the first snowflake everyone panics and just stays home, so this car hasn’t seen metal-eating chemicals or road salt. Climb over, under and all around it, I know you’ll come up smiling! Hop in; fire up the strong 5.6-liter V-8 and it starts immediately – even when cold! The automatic transmission shifts between gears as expected. Having owned many dozens of Daimler vehicles over three decades, I’ve developed a great appreciation for the Mercedes style, mechanical reliability and overall driving experience. Honestly, this Benz has more raw power and it definitely accelerates faster than my ’99 E-Class daily driver. CONDITION: In total, this is a clean, smoke-free Mercedes. I take great pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly here is a list of the good and also things needing attention: The car idles, runs and drives as I feel it should – immediate, strong oil pressure, strong battery and charging system, no noticeable brake pull or alignment issues! The light blue metallic paint is in decent overall condition and still holds quite a shine with only a rock chip or two. On the interior the front buckets are in excellent condition with no visible wear spots that you’ll find on most. I’d venture to guess the carpets have always been covered with floor mats because they’re clean and original (I will be sure and include the mats you see in the photos). You’ll notice this SL also comes with the very rare rear leather seats, though don’t plan on sitting back there if you’re taller that four feet as there isn’t much legroom. The fold-down black fabric soft top is in place and is also in overall good condition. As pictured, all the glass is crack & pit free. I’ve never figured out why, but Daimler can’t ever seem to install great radios in any of their vehicles. The former owner was smart to replace the factory Becker with this nice Pioneer CD System. About the only real flaws I can think to point out are: the A/C blows, but could use a recharge, the dash thermometer (above the radio) isn’t accurate and the seat chrome doesn’t always want to stay in place. All four chrome wheels are wrapped with 225/60R15 Cooper “Lifeliner” touring radials. I’d estimate each has at least 75% remaining tread.
