We have a here a 1948 Ford f6 oil tanker. Would make a very unique restoration project. It does run and drive but has bad brakes. It has 68,140 Original miles. Flat Head V8 4 speed, 2 speed. Never been worked on (one water pump replaced) that’s it! Only hauled oil its whole life. Was told after it pumped a million gallons of oil they stopped using it. 1000 gallon tank. It has 5 seperate compartments at the top of the tank. The tank is in great shape. In the back of the truck it was 5 valves for each compartment and another valve for the hose. All valves seem to work (turn). Majority of the side boxes open up with a little force( nothing a little wd-40 wouldn't fix.) They are all in good condition. The very back compartment opens and has a little wooden step ladder, 2 spare tires, and a hose. The rear bumper is on hinges. It flips up to make it easier to turn the valves. The compartment behind the Passenger side is where the meter is. It still turns and seems to be in working order. I’d say there’s about 20 or 30 foot of hose on a reel that still turns. Has a brass nozzle on the end of the hose. Still in good condition. In this compartment theres a badge that’s on the inside of this compartment. It says, “The Heil Company Milwaukee, Wisconsin Piece Number: 154945 Model Number: 12 48.” The doors are in great shape for its year. The only thing is its rusted on the bottem but very solid. It can be repaired and the rust isn’t all the way through, no holes. The windows all work, as do the door handles. They doors both close but the drivers side you have to lift up on it a little bit in order for it to fully close. The seat is in great condition. It still folds down very easy. The gas tank is right behind the seat and is in perfect condition (rust Free). The Gas tank is not hooked up. All the knobs for heat, air, defrost all seem to turn. I do not know if they actually work. Dash board, windows all are in great shape. The cab is in good condition. The running boards will need to be replaced, as will the fenders. They are both in rough condition. The head lights are falling through the front grill. Pretty rusty. The hood is flawless. In great working order. It will need new tires. The back tires are 8.25-20 10 ply very weathered but hold air. The front tires are 7.50-20 8 ply very weathered but hold air. All have little to no tread left. We drove it a little bit around the yard on October 22, 2011. Had it in first gear and in reverse. Didn’t drive it much due to the brakes. The motor starts up and runs, transmission seems to be in good working order. Feel free to email me with questions. I'd be more than happy to show you the vehicle in person.
