Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1973 Volvo 1800 ES Sport Wagon. I will start off by saying that I am usually selling Hot Wheels cars on ebay so bare with me as this is the first time I have listed a full size car. I am listing this car for my Uncle, so I will give you a description to the best of my knowledge and point of view as I looked the car over and took pictures. The car was quite dusty when I took the pictures, but overall condition of the car is pretty nice and dent free. I say dent free, but it has one shallow dent where my uncle had swiped a ladder on the back of his boat along the rear quarter panel on the drivers side about a foot long. Looks to be an easy fix to smooth it out. The only rust that I could find on the whole car was mainly the rocker panels, which I was told was common among this cars. I did do some research to the history of this year and model and looks like more than 50% of these were shipped overseas and was compared to how the '57 Chevy is iconic to America, these cars were to Europe. There was 8077 of these built in 1973. As far as the history of the vehicle, my uncle told me that he bought this car about 15 years ago out of the Chicago area. He bought this because he had one back when he was in college, but it pretty much rusted to pieces. This vehicle has always been stored inside and you can tell that from the pictures that I have taken. He brought the car back to life about 6 years ago. It was running then, but he just has had no time to mess with it or drive it. So it has sat after he only put about 45 miles on it. He has lost interest in it and it is just taking up space now. He has receipts from the work that he had done on it, including having the gas tank boiled and tune up done on it. The tires look to be brand new tread or very little road time on them anyhow. It comes with a very nice fitted car cover as seen in one of the pictures. This vehicle is being sold "AS IS" and would call it in non-running condition. I can't imagine that it would take much to have it running again. These cars have an early style fuel injection in them and I am sure that is why it is not running at this moment. A dead battery doesn't help much either. If you have any questions, I have access to the car at anytime and can pass any questions along to my uncle. I am on the computer daily so I can usually get back to you on any questions within a 24 hour period. Thanks for looking and again this is a no reserve auction, so someone is going to end up with this car. On Nov-07-11 at 17:21:06 PST, seller added the following information: I was able to take some more pictures of the door jambs, hood jambs, and underneath of the car. The door and hood jambs and clean and rust free. The dash has 3 cracks in one spot and 1 crack on the other end. The rocker on the drivers side is not as bad as I thought it was as it is bubbling and not rusted through. The passenger side rocker is pretty rusted but still holding together. The bottom of the car has been undercoated at one time and there is surface rust where the undercoating has peeled off and I believe this is due to the fact that it has been sitting on a concrete floor for many years. The floor pans seem to be solid and I couldn't see or hear any sign of weakness to them as I tapped on them. I was able to add 3 more pictures to the listing, but have many more. If you want additional pictures, please send me your e-mail. The car seems to be very complete with no visible missing pieces. The dent is more of a scratch on the side of the rear quarter panel. Looks like a dent puller would take it right out as shallow as it is. I am trying to be as detailed as I can so there are not surprises. Thanks for looking! On Nov-09-11 at 19:12:13 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: I put a battery from my car that is stored in the same building in the Volvo today and the car turns over with ease. I put a bit of fresh gas in the tank, but it did not fire up. Could be spark plugs or some other simple fix. I may have some time to look at it again tomorrow. The hazard switch works, blower fan, windshield wipers, wiper fluid works, headlight switch, turn signals, etc. Also, should note that this car has the rare air conditioning option also. I have had many E-mails and appreciate everyone's interest in the car so far.
