1989 Honda Prelude Si (3rd Gen) WORTH FAR MORE THAN BUY-NOW PRICE IN NEW AND ALMOST NEW PARTS! BUT IN THE RIGHT HANDS, THIS CAR CAN OFFER FAR MORE! Original Owner, Clear Title. Well Maintained. Currently Registered and CA Smog Certified. 217,500K MilesBlack with Tan interior. Automatic Transmission.MANY NEW AND RECENT PARTS!!!Drives great! 24+ mpg.Love the car still! Still drive it! Looking for new home with enthusiast able to provide TLC. I bought this car new in ‘89 and have owned it ever since. It is by far the best car I have ever had, marvelous handling and superb engineering! I STILL enjoy driving it! I know just about all there is to know about it. Alas, it is time pass it on to someone else, preferably an enthusiast with desire and possibly stills to continue to maintain it. Below the rundown. THE GOOD: Still drives like a charm. Very smooth, tight, sure-footed. New Steering Pump, Alternator and Battery (Sears Gold) very recently. Upper valve job approx 5 yrs/50K miles ago, incl Timing Belt and Water Pump. New Radiator and all new Rubber Hoses about 4 yrs ago. New Injectors a few years back. Oil changes (synthetic) at regular internals. New Distributor and Wires a couple of years ago. New Axle Boots a while back. New windshield 5 years ago. New Cat Back 5 yrs ago - passed last Cal smog fine last year and always (Smog Testing Buyer’s responsibility). AC very cold. New Ventilation Fan a few years ago. Interior in very good plus condition for its age. Aftermarket window tinting 5 yrs ago, still holding up. Decent Blaupunkt CD/Radio with aftermarket speakers, sounds great! Excellent Bridgestone Potenza Tires - approx 50% tread remaining. Decent (not great) paint job in decent condition. Alarm system installed when new but disconnected many years ago. Various other parts replaced over the years as needed. THE NOT SO GOOD: Drops oil last few years - 1 qt every 750 miles or so - leaking mostly from inside crankcase. As that is hard to get to and I’m not a mechanic, I’ve just been adding oil as necessary. First Gear began slipping a few years ago, been starting from standstill in 2nd and no problems doing that. Gas guage long ago failed, so I estimate 300 miles per tank. Retracting headlight mechanism had problem a few years back, so I disconnected. Glove Compartment latch has broken. Not critical, but Outer Tie Rods could use replacing. Air Flow Tube has crack and needs replacement - I used duct tape to seal. Window washer reservoir long ago developed leak. Fog lights not operational - I have some parts. Some Dents - driver door, passenger front, front bumper a bit ajar (small accidents while parked). Dings here and there. Some Trim missing - I have some parts. Overall, still looks smart! I have Service Manual in Paper and CD versions - invaluable! I have been devoted to the car since purchase and need a Buyer who will be likewise vigilant -- even better a Prelude Enthusiast with desire and skills to continue to maintain it. This is not the car for the casual owner who just wants to drive without a care about maintenance. On the other hand, for the Enthusiast who will provide the kind of attention I have for 22 years, this car will most definitely offer up the reward!
