Vehicle Detail

There is ABSOLUTELY no part of me that wants to sell this car! I have wanted a Nash Metropolitan since i was 14 years old, and I looked for one to buy for YEARS! I was lucky enough to find one in the local paper and astonished at the low mileage and the amazing condition it is in!! We are talking 30,312k original miles (this was the info that was given to me by the former owner). It was purchased and driven only in Casper, Wyoming at the local Rambler Dealership (see pic on the sticker on the spare tire). The Interior is great and VERY clean, however there are two small tears in the headliner and the vinyl over the rear wheel wells have aged to the point of flaking slightly. I had a Dealer come out and look at it for me when I was intending to keep it (a friend of a friend), and he was VERY impressed at the condition. The points that he made were: All the glass is in EXCELLENT condition, none of the typical wear or delamination that occurs with the Nash Metropolitan. The body is in excellent condition, with one small (quarter sized) ding on the front of the hood (I apologize for the lack of pics of the front of my Nash....I will get those and post them ASAP). The undercarriage does show a bit of surface rust, but NOTHING like you would expect in a car from Wyoming or even a car thats this age. It has been repainted at one point and they did an OK job in my opinion. That was the ONLY thing that I felt that I would do to this car at some point aside from the flaking vinyl. Although the paint DOES look nice as it is, especially when it's been polished, I would have liked to make it look "show room new". From what I understand and have been told (small town and all), this car has been kept garaged except for a few moths by the previous owner during the summer and not driven a great deal. Hence the low milage. My Nash runs great! Brand new battery! However, because of some construction on my driveway and my not wanting to take ot out of the garage in the winter, my Nash sat untouched for a year and the Master Clutch Cylinder needs to be bled. I will TRY my best to have this completed in the next few days, but I am a single Mom and I haven't had the time to have it done! But it DOES run great!! I am ONLY selling my "baby" because I am recently divorced and simply put, need the money! ~A little Nash History (don't forget to read all the way to the bottom for all the legal stuff): Series IV Production1959–1961 January 1959 saw the start of Metropolitan Series IV (NK4) production (Commencing with VIN E59048 on 12 January 1959). This major re-design saw the addition of an external decklid (previous models only allowed access to the trunk through the rear seat back) and vent windows. By this time, the engine had been up-graded by increasing the compression ratio from 7.2:1 to 8.3:1 (Commenced VIN E43116 — October 15, 1957) giving an output of 55 bhp (41 kW) (as used in the Austin A55 Cambridge). The additional features added 15 lb (6.8 kg) to the weight. Exterior color options were the same as for Series III. The interior now used a "Diamond" patterned material for the seats, with white vinyl trim. The MSRP for Series IV models was $1,672.60 (Hardtop) and $1,696.80 (Convertible). Sales rose to 22,209 units in 1959, the Metropolitan's best-selling year, promoting it to second place behind Volkswagen in sales of cars imported to the U.S. American Motors' advertising "made much" of this ranking, while it omitted the fact that the Volkswagen outsold the Metropolitan by 5½ to 1.[24] Production ceased in April 1961 (final VIN — E95981, built April 19, 1961). Sales of the existing inventory continued until March 1962. The Legal stuff...... ~There is NO RESERVE, what is listed is my ABSOLUTE bottom price that I will accept. If this price is not met, I will figure out something else (remember, I don't WANT to sell it). ~I also reserve the right to sell my Nash locally, as I have a few people that have shown interest in it already. BUT in the event that a local buyer makes an offer (I will do my best to direct them to eBay to enter the bid), I will contact the highest bidder at that time and offer him/her the opportunity to beat the offer, if they refuse, the second highest bidder will be contacted and we will complete the transaction through eBay. ~PAYMENT....a 1,000.00 deposit will be due within 24 hours of the close of auction. The balance will be due within 72 hours of close of auction. If the balance is NOT paid within 72 hours, the winner will forfeit the 1,000.00 deposit and the car will be offered to the next highest bidder (at the winning price) or relisted. Payment MUST be received before pick up or delivery! ~Shipping...is at you own expense! You can use the Shipping Calculator and ship it commercially, I also have someone locally who is willing to deliver to you (price and availability based on location, please ask about this option before placing your bid so you know the total cost involved. Shipping fee will be paid directly to them as YOU will be contracting with them directly and I will have no involvement or liability in ANY shipping transaction), OR...you can come pick it up! =) ~This 1960 Nash Metroploitan is sold AS IS....please ask any questions that I have not answered prior to bidding! Thank you! I think that's all I can say for now. If you have ANY questions or if you would like pics of anything that you do not see here, just let me know!! Thank you for your time, and happy bidding! Cara =) l
