Vehicle Detail

Rare Rust Free and Great Running Cotswold Blue/Tan Leather 1972 Series 1 Jaguar XJ-6, 1 owner Jaguar, all original, matching numbers Jag and runs very well. 61,363 miles. This Jaguar has been garage kept its entire life and has zero rust and runs and drives excellent, motor blows absolutely No smoke and has plenty of power and shifts as it should. Starts every time and has always been very reliable. Original radio, Tool kit and interior, although the drivers seat bottom was replaced ten years ago leather has no tears but shows its age with patina. New Perelli tires, new Boge shocks all around, and new stainless steel dual exhaust pipes(3 years old). Brakes have plenty of life and have been bled yearly, calipers still wear there original silver paint and have no rust. E. brake holds like new. Front suspension joints have been greased as well as all drive train grease able joints. Power steering is tight and works well with no noise or issues. Air Conditioning works well. Paint is Very tired and has bad crazing: on the roof, the rear quarter tops, and front fender tops. Hood paint is nice and would shine. No dents in sheet metal or chrome, no body filler at all. Despite the bad condition the paint is in, it still looks nice from 10 feet. Chrome is in excellent original condition. Windshield has 1 chip not in or near the driver's view and the windshield gasket being original is in bad shape as is the rear window gasket. The gaskets are available from after market manufacturers for $49 each. Windshield chrome trims in very good condition. All other rubber seals such as door seals have been replaced over the years and are in very good condition. Drives straight and stops straight. Has plenty of throttle left at 90 m.p.h.on the highway a great touring car. I will upload more detail photos soon of the underside and with a few wheels off to see the very good condition of its mechanicals. This vehicle only needs a decent respray in its original Cotswold Blue to be very desirable, as it is a beautiful color which means a whole lot. if you are serious and have a question please email me Thank you for looking, Matthew J. Mariani On Nov-03-11 at 15:47:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello, I have many interior and exterior details photos which i can email. The photos show nice stuff and bad like the areas the paint is crazing and nice areas such as the hood and front fenders and door paint which looks great as you drive. I have many pictures of the floors (underside) and under the rear as well as the spare tire well which is rust free and the lower side of the motor which looks very nice and has not ever been cleaned. Many interior views, the underside of all doors, etc., etc., are available upon request as well. I will have it tuned (points) this week, and have the center drive shaft support bearing replaced or repaired this week as well. The drive shaft has knocked once in a while on take off for some time now but will be corrected. I drove it 38 miles today to visit a family member and enjoyed every minute topping 80 mph a few times. This Jag does not leave a fluid puddle after use. I am not looking to give away this automobile, which has become very rare. Not respected so much here in the US, it is respected and becoming popular to collect and use in the UK for example from what i have read. It is a series 1 with the 4.2L motor which is used in the E-Type. This motor makes great compression and does not smoke. Thanks again, MattOn Nov-04-11 at 08:44:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello, i am sorry about not having more interior photos and photos showing the rust free condition of my XJ-6. I called ebay to remove the first 12 so i could replace them with the interior detail and body detail pictures i took recently. Body is solid. : all door bottoms are solid and unrestored, rear & front lower sheet metal, rockers panels and spare tire well are rust free and original and unrestored, rear suspension control arm mount locations were reinforced about 20 years ago, when the car had a partial respray. Windshield and rear window gaskets are bad but i would drive it in the rain anyway. Paint has 'patina' but very pretty, i would not even paint it. Hood and fenders shine which is all you see when driving. History: The Smith family (friends of a friend) have owned this car since new. Mr Smith was a Jag man who maintained and showed the car into the 90s, it was left to his daughter Deborah who lost interest in it. An entertainer friend of mine in Philadelphia bought it and stored it with out registering it in his name, which is how i bumped into it and bought it. I am starting to get attached, I haven't owned an older Jag only worked on them. It make me happy being behind the wheel. If you are serious and would like to see additional photos, please email me at hhrrmatthewj.mariani@gmail.com for those additional photos. I was unaware of the fact that ebay could not remove and replace photos w/in the auction period. Center support bearing has been restored, and the big cat is tuned. On Nov-04-11 at 21:04:20 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to correct a couple of errors in the above descriptions. 1. The front fender paint shines and is not crazing. The bad paint crazing is located on the roof and on the trunk and on the tops of the rear quarters only. 2. I meant to say: I would not drive this vehicle in the rain regardless of the condition of the windshield and rear window gaskets. Door seal rubber and the rest are in surprisingly good condition. Electrical System: The charging works (alternates) very well, and the rest of the electrical systems work well and is in excellent condition, the clock and original radio are not working.I haven't looked into why yet, but everything else including the Smiths gauges work well and all illuminate at night. The wipers, all of the side lights, hazard signals, turn signals, head, and interior lights work as they should. I didn't have to do anything to them. I looked at the 2 fuse blocks behind the gauges and checked them, none were blown, the radio power lead was labeled and was disconnected though, i have a hunch is has to do with the power antenna which looks stuck 3/4 of the way down . Heat and A.C. fan works well (both speeds work) rear heat and a.c. works well. Seat belts all work well and all of the seating is comfortable and the fronts adjust properly. The interior has a very pleasing smell, the original floor mats are there and in good condition. As i mentioned the drive shaft center support bearing was restored. On Nov-05-11 at 08:56:21 PDT, seller added the following information: FOR 66 PICTURES GO TO MY FACEBOOK FAN PAGE: Mariani's Magdoorbumper or www.magdoorbumper.com Fellow car nuts please click like if you like MAGDOORBUMPER.On Nov-05-11 at 17:46:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: This is an early Jaguar XJ-6 which came equipped with SU carburetors not Stromberg's.
