This auction is for a very nice 1966 Mustang Fastback Shelby Hertz GT350H Replica. This car is black and Gold with the standard black interior. The original AM radio is retained in an unmolested dash. This car was built from an original C code car. The engine is the 289 with an automatic transmission. Manual steering and manual drum brakes. The engine has an Edelbrock Performer manifold with a 600 Holley carburetor. The mileage shows 19491. This may be 119491 or it may have been set at 0 when the restoration was done I'm not sure. This car was built about 15 years ago. This refurbishing includes the fiberglass one piece Shelby style hood with the original type hood pins. I was told the 289 was rebuild about 3000 miles ago and has the dual point distributor, headers, chrome air cleaner and Cobra valve covers. The car has the Monte Carlo bar, the quarter windows, bullet style mirror, GT350 badging on the rear, GT350H side stripes, Shelby gas cap, rear brake air scoops, chrome Magnum wheels, and racing style seat belts as were standard on the Hertz Shelbys. The battery is currently in the trunk but I have the complete tray and mounting assembly to put it back under the hood. There is a small silver dollar size corroded hole in the right side of the trunk from the battery. The dash is excellent as is the carpeting. The lower left of the drivers seat has a 3 inch seam coming unstitched as seen in the picture. The headliner was replaced and looked great when stored 10 years ago. It now has sags which need to be worked out. The transmission was rebuilt about 100 miles ago. The cooling system needs to be flushed. It has rust from the storage. This car is fresh out of a 10 year storage. There are a few nicks, chips, and minor dings where things had bumped against the car in storage and a kink in the lower left of the front splash apron. I have enclosed pictures of this. Also, someone bumped the left rear and cracked a skim coat of filler in the left rear fender where another bump had been repaired. See picture. Minor spotting should cure these defects. The tires have less than 3000 miles on them. I believe one wheel center cap is missing. The exhaust was like new metal when it was stored. I believe emory cloth could restore this finish. It has hipo flowmaster style duals with a nice sound. There is a new master cylinder, front brake shoes and all 4 new wheel cylinders since the storage. The brakes have been bled and stop the car but still need to be adjusted. Floors appear completely solid and have been undercoated. The car has a new gas tank. The car was originally from Oklahoma. The doors are completely solid underneath, inside, etc. Not a rust bucket. There are no speaker holes cut into the door panels or rear trap door. This car is NOT butchered up. The paint could use fresh wax after the touch ups. The Gold stripes were applied just like the original Hertz cars with brilliant gold metallic. They look great. One 1/8 inch chip on the stripe on the trunk edge. This is not a show car yet but it could be with a good detailing and minor tinkering. It always gets the thumbs up when I have it out on the road. This car has not been driven long distances for 10 years and should be checked over before a road trip. Plan on trailering it home. I have only had it around town since bringing it out of storage.
