Vehicle Detail
This rare and cool little red Valiant V200 station wagon is in very good original condition, ready to run and drive as a practical classic and presentable for shows! The indestructable larger optional 225 cubic inch slant six and automatic transmission will run dependably and economically, and the wagon has plenty of room! You can drive, show, and enjoy this Valiant, or you can do some paint and body work this winter to have your show winner ready in the spring! This Valiant is super desireable in its original red paint, and is the deluxe V200 model, with its original and beautiful red cloth and vinyl upholstery and red carpet. Most of the few Valiant wagons that survived are the less deluxe V100... and I have never seen one with this striking original red/red combination. The seats and carpet are very nice originals, with no rips or tears, and the door panels are super nice originals in red with the silver mylar trim, and nice armrests on all four doors. This Valiant also has the optional padded dash, which does have some cracking but is very presentable. Overall, the interior is very nice and very presentable, showing just some wear and fading that would be expected with the low mileage and age of the car. The larger slant six provides plenty of smooth acceleration, the non-power brakes and steering are fine in this small car, and the transmission shifts fine. The gas tank and sending unit are new and the carburetor was rebuilt this fall. The brakes were adjusted at the same time and are working fine. All lights work, and the gages all work (the fuel gage can be temperamental at times!). This is the last year for the pushbutton transmission controls, adding the the uniqueness and fun of this wagon! And, this wagon appears to have the optional sure-grip differential (there is a sticker on the inside of the glove box door describing how to jack a car with sure-grip). The luggage compartment area is very nice, amazingly it still has the original red rubber mat, and the wood platform floor underneath that serves as the load floor over the jack and spare tire. The body and paint on this Valiant are very presentable, but could use attention when you choose to restore them. The paint is original, and overall the body is straight other than the chin under the front bumper and some minor damage to the left front fender. But this car has had some typical rust and rust repair many years ago in each lower fender and rockers near the rear wheels. The areas were filled/patched and paint blended in. There is some rust along the upper inner front fenders, though most appears to be surface rust, and there is some paint damage below the fuel filler. The tailgate has a small dent/ding but does not have any rust through, and the crank down rear window works beautifully. Overall, the body and paint are very presentable and it is not missing any trim or other parts. It is very hard to find a deluxe V200 Valiant station wagon, especially with this equipment and in this factory original red. It is a rare and practical classic station wagon that is economical and fun to drive! And with less than 63,000 miles, it is barely broken in! I have clear title in my name on this Valiant. This Valiant is being sold as is, where it is. A bid is a contract to buy the car; if you would like to inspect the car prior to bidding, please contact me. The winning bidder must pay a nonrefundable $500 deposit within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements to pay the full amount with a bank cashier's check, money order, or cash within 7 days, all in US funds. I will transfer title and release the car for pick up after the funds clear. Transport is the responsibility of the buyer, but I will be available to coordinate with your transport company or to coordinate your pick up.
