Vehicle Detail

This is your chance to own the first Porsche 911 Speedster ever built. I have been asked by long-time Porsche aficionado and collector Dr. W. E. Lunden to help describe and sell this one-of-a-kind (actually two, but this Speedster was the first one built) custom Posrche Speedster 911T. This specimen is the only one in the United states. Some insiders believe that the Porsche factory actually may have got the idea to build their 1988, 911 Carrera/Cabriolet-based Speedster when they saw the second (the sister to the one in this auction) custom Speedster 911T after it was shipped to a private collector in Europe. Definitely no chicken and egg story here, as this 1971 T-based, custom Speedster was built almost a decade before the Porsche factory released theirs in ‘88. The original owner of the car was the proprietor, senior designer, and wünderkind founder of MeisterWerks USA who built it for his personal collection. When word got out that he had built the perfect modern-day extension of the original 356 speedster, he was asked to build a second for one of the more definitive Porsche collections in Europe. The present owner of the original, Dr. Lunden, acquired the Speedster in a multi-vehicle transaction made with MeisterWerks in 2006. In the designer’s words: The car started life as a 1971 911T coupe, and we decided to make it into what would be a modern continuation of the speedster model, had Porsche decided to make it. The top bows and pieces were made expressly for this car and replicate the OEM ones in look, function and fabrication, but of course they are wider and longer due to the car's increased physical dimensions. The windshield frame was made so that its profile was minimal from every angle and proportionate to the look of the car. Rather than make the rear deck look like Porsche's current (1988) re-release of the Speedster which used a Cabriolet(Carrera), we fabricated the rear deck area to look more like the original 356 Speedster, and we raked the windshield back slightly. As a result, this car has little to no wind noise while driving and it runs very smooth as do most 911T's. The chassis was strengthened along the longitudes and eliminates any twisting or major flex of the car. We moved the OEM bumpers in to smooth the look and give the Speedster a smaller appearance. The car is very light and is very smooth to drive and is quite dependable. This Speedster is a real head turner. Anyone who knows Porsches can easily see the Speedster tradition has been faithfully upheld with great attention to design and fabrication. The car has been recently serviced, including new brakes, and has only 12133 total miles and less than 2500 miles since it was fabricated in the early 80's. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a true original… the only one in the United States and the first modern-era Speedster ever built.
