Vehicle Detail

1968 Mercury Cougar I bought this car back in February 2005 and drove to Jacksonville Florida from Memphis Tennessee. I used if as a daily driver. It was shipped to Rhode Island in January of 2006 when I moved and it has not been driven on the road since then because needed work to pass RI inspection. In October 2006 I hauled the car to Pennsylvania where it has been stored ever since. In April of this year a good battery was put in it and it started right up. In the summer of 2005 my neighbor backed into the area between the divers door and rear wheel. There was a rust hole on the body crease I got a patch panel from JCC which the body shop installed when they pulled out the dent. The car has 63423 miles on the odometer and I think it went around at least once and maybe several times. Has a Florida Title in my name. Buyer must transfer title / ownership into their name in their state. Some typical rust under the vinyl top. Top has some cracks. Paint faded in some areas. There is some rust on the passenger side front floor with a spot I think a thumb would go through. Also a hole in the passenger floor that was for an A/C drain. An add on A/C unit was removed. The rest of the car was very solid, which is why I bought it. Shock towers and frame rails solid. Most of floor solid. Some bubbling has formed along the bottom af the rear quarter panels behind the rear wheels. Drivers side rear quarter panel and bumper dented. See extra pictures. Engine had enough power to get around. Would smoke sometimes. Rear springs noticeably sagging. Rear axle had a whining noise. Front driver seat springs and cushion shot. Passenger door panel is fair. Dash pad has no cracks but is deformed out of shape. Rest of interior needs to be recovered or replaced. Windshield cracked. Included is a new windshield gasket and rear window gasket. Some of the chrome is dented including the piece on the trunk lid. Manual steering. Automatic transmission. A good used grille is included and is in the trunk. When I bought the car the grille was bent up and the headlights could not be adjusted. I think the brakes went out on the previous owner and probably hit a wall or something at low speed. I saw a receipt for brake work that was done to the car before I bought it. I removed the grille when I moved to RI with plans to install another. I had to ship the car to PA when my landlord gave notice to remove the car. A used grille is included with the car. Front bumper dented. Radiator support is dented. 302 2bbl engine. Has a Davis Unified Ignition (D.U.I.). This ignition uses GM HEI ignition parts with a distributor base made to fit the small block Ford. I had a small fuel leak fire that melted the original clear Davis distributor cap and I replaced it with a quality aftermarket replacement. The coil cover has some fire damage but just cosmetic. Some pictures show a big block radiator. I have changed it back to a original type small block radiator as you can see on that last set of photos. The heater core went bad and is disconnected. A good used one is in the trunk. I installed a new motor mount when the car was in RI. Manual drum brakes The sequential turn signals work however one bulb needs to be replaced. This is an early production 1968. It does not have shoulder belts. Had knee pad above the glove box which is now missing. A 1967 style rear view mirror, not mounted to the windshield glass. Car is located in Allentown PA 18104. Arrangements can be made to see the car by sending me an e-mail or calling me at 401-523-7646. I will arrange a date and time with buyer for final payment and pickup. Sold AS-IS.
