Vehicle Detail
Selling the Taurus because I recently started back to college and not working and needed a little cash to for gas and to pay off the remaining engine loan ($2,200 of the $4,000). The Taurus is in fair shape for it's age and the miles on it. I had the engine replaced with a Jasper engine about two years ago and have only been using Mobile 1 synthetic oil (changed the oil and filter about every 5,000 miles). The engine is a 6 cylinder flex fuel engine and only has about 50,000 miles on it. For the other repairs done: the power steering pump and heater core where replaced in 2007, the sway bar ties and lower ball joints where replaced in 2009/2010, new brake cylinder and rotor on front driver wheel in 2010, replaced the front driver strut in 2010, replaced the windshield in 2010, the front tires where put on last November and still have a lot of tred left, and also added a class II hitch and 4 wire harness. The car is rated to tow about 1,200 lbs., about the weight of a small power boat, although I've never towed anything. The car runs pretty good, it gets 20 mpg combined city and highway, once had it up to 30 mpg on a trip to North Carolina. The only problems I've noticed with the car mechanically is it's leaking some coolant (from the front right side of the car, guessing a radiator hose), the fuel gauge doesn't function (had it replaced when the car was first purchased, it cost $100 at a Ford garage), some of the dash gauge lights aren't working, and the muffler sounds like it could be replaced. Structurally the car seems to be in excellent shape. Cosmetically there are a a few scuffs in the paint and there is some rust on the rear wheel wells. I think the car would be great for as a starter car, commuter vehicle, or for a high school/college student.
