Up for auction today is my baby a 1979 Last of the German built Rabbit ,THE CAR IS AN ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA CAR with a clear Nevada title, these cars are getting extremely difficult and rare to find in decent condition,the paint and body are in fair condition,with no major damage other than a few dings, the interior is pretty decent too with no rips on the seats, the door panels are in great shape too, the dash as usual had cracks but i had this dash cover which i had bought 20 some years ago from a local VW dealer which i put on the dash.The head liner is new too. When i bought the car it had a blown motor and a 4-speed manual trans, i took the original 1.5 diesel motor out ,bought a 1.6 diesel motor had it taken apart and had it totally rebuilt professionally by a reputed VW shop, with new std piston rings, new main bearings, new rod bearings, new intermediate shaft, new seals, new gaskets, rebuilt head, new water pump, new clutch, new glow plugs etc. I also went ahead and bought a 5-speed which was also torn apart and rebuilt with new sincros and seals,Before the motor was installed i had the rack and pinion rebuilt with new tierod ends and new boots, also has all new shifter linkage bushings, the front struts are new too along with front wheel bearings, new brakes front and rear and new brake lines.the car has all 4 new tires and new battery, all the coolant hoses are new along with the heater valve. The car comes with very desirable european H4 head lights, and the driving lights, also has the duckbuilt spoiler, the sunroof was taken apart and new cables installed so it rolls back and forth very smoothly and doesn't leak, also has a very desirable wind deflector. The car has no AC. I have tried to describe the car as honestly as possible, how ever it is a 32 year old car, since the rebuilt the motor and tires has about 1500 miles only, the car runs and drives very smoothly.
