Vehicle Detail

For Sale is a 1981 Jeep CJ8/Scrambler Condition: The vehicle is registered and it passed the State of Texas inspection in Sept 11, thus it is street legal. I have clear title in hand. It has a 4-cylinder motor that is very dependable and runs very well. I have owned this Jeep since 2000 using it primarily as as a South Texas ranch/hunting vehicle. I have put approximately 500 to 1,000 miles per year since I acquired it. The odometer does not work now and did not work when I purchased it. It shows approximately 84,000 miles. It has BF Goodrich Mud Terrain 31 x 10.50 tires (tread in very good condition) mounted on black steel rims. The spare tire is an older BFG 31 x 10.50 All Terrain Tire mounted on the spare tire rack. The exterior and interior surfaces are painted with a bedliner material that is generally in good condition with exception to a couple of areas where inadequate preparation/application caused it to peel. Those areas are: at the top of the divider separating the cab area from the bed and at the hood and door hinges. There area a few other areas where it is discolored due to a chemical reaction resulting from over spray when spot treating metal areas with minor rust with OSPHO rust treatment. The result of this treatment was rust colored staining where contact was made with the bedliner coating material. It has a removable soft top and doors. It has a Pioneer CD/Radio player with MP3 input. Interior panels are plain as compared to some Jeeps with more detailed dash overlays. It has a Jeep winch on it that I believe is a model 8274. I moved it to this vehicle from a Toyota FJ-40 that I previously owned. The winch has rarely been used, however, it does still work. The cable to the winch is in fair condition, having been kinked in a few places over the years. The windshield shows signs of clouding around the edges, thus I assume it has lost its seal but I don't really know much about that as it pertains to automobile glass. The 4WD indicator light does not work, however the 4WD, both high and low range, does work. It is set up with a tow bar that will be included with the sale. I have a metal stand ("high rack") that is easily removable by 1-2 people in a matter of less than 5 minutes. This rack attaches to the rear bumper and the rollbar. Installation is accomplished by connecting the rear support legs to the bumper tabs, then pivoting it up and forward to the point where it rests on the rollbar where it secures with bolts. There are two holes drilled in the rollbar which receive 4-5" bolts that secure the rack to the vehicle. This rack is sprayed with bedliner material as well. Maintenance History: Power steering was added about 5 years ago and it works very good. The gas tank was replaced about 3-4 years ago. The clutch was replaced last February (less than 300 miles ago). The alternator and battery were replaced 2 months ago. The carburator was also rebuilt 2 months ago. Fluids, including oil, coolant, gear box, and differential fluids have been routinely serviced. In about 2006 the Jeep was treated by Ziebert through their Corpus Christi franchisee (www.ziebart.com). This was done as a preventative measure, having seen that the cost was not that much relative to the amount of time I had seen friends spend treating extensive rust on their Jeeps using a lot of elbow grease and POR-15. At least partially because of this, the underside of the Jeep remains in very good condition. I will not adjust the "Buy It Now" price for a sale without the "high rack" as I don't want to deal with selling it separately. I believe the value to very good without the rack. This is a great reliable Jeep in very good condition. I am simply selling it because, with the recent addition of another ranch vehicle, I now have three at my ranch. The Jeep doesn't have adequate space for my typical group size of family, dogs, and friends, thus it is the one that I have chosen to eliminate. Thanks in advance for your interest. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will add additional pictures tonight or tomorrow. On Oct-06-11 at 18:53:35 PDT, seller added the following information:
