But they have to be. The police cannot have their cars breaking down on the way to an emergency because of a lack of proper maintenance. The Police Interceptor is the safest full size car that is on the road today. It has a five star crash rating for the driver and passenger. The P71 is also tested in a 75 MPH rear end collision. No other car in the world is tested to that standard. You cannot put a price on your safety. Below is what the magazine popular mechanics said about the ford police interceptor after testing the car and taking a tour of the now closed St. Thomas assembly plant. “The assembly plant that manufacture police cars are more secure than Area 51. It's an undercover operation. The cars are mostly built by hand. And only the highest-ranking members of the United Auto Workers with top security clearance are allowed to assemble on these cars.” “The P71 cars are built with parts that are stamped "ultrahigh performance." Every nut, bolt and washer comes solely from the manufacturer's "severe duty" parts bin. The high-output V8 engines are so potent that police officers need special training before they are allowed to take the wheel on public roads. The suspensions are tight enough to out-handle a Corvette and strong enough to withstand jumps that would break a Hummer. The brakes have enough binding power to send Grandpa's dentures into the next county. And the frames have the torsional rigidity of a brick wall. The P71 is the toughest, fastest and baddest American sedan on the roads today.” And I agree. I am sad to see that Ford has quit making this excellent car. The front wheel drive Taurus that is replacing the P71 Vic is disappointing to say the least! Vehicle Condition: This car looks excellent, starts, runs, and drives great. Exterior: Ø Paint is very glossy. We washed and hand waxed this car. The paint is a 9.5 out of 10. It looks stunning! Ø There are some very small door dings, and scratches. None of which is horrible. Ø The body is very straight on this car. Ø No cracked or broken glass Ø Four plugged antenna holes two on the roof and two on the trunk Ø One plugged lightbar hole Interior: Ø Very clean Ø Non Smoker Ø Has a working spotlight Ø Has a working auxiliary dome light. Often referred to as a “ticket light” Ø There are two small holes on the dash Ø Seats are nice. The drivers seat has some wear by the recline mechanism and on the seat bottom. Nothing major at all. Ø Rubber floor is very clean. Ø Radio works Ø Power windows work Ø Power door locks work. Rear doors open from the outside only. Ø Power mirrors work Ø Wipers work Ø All lights work Ø Horn works Drivetrain/Mechanical: Ø Engine runs smooth and strong. This is a true flex-fuel vehicle. It can run on E85 or Gasoline Ø NO Leaks or unwelcome noises (Pinging, Knocking, Rattles, ETC) Ø Transmission shifts quick and firm (Just like it is supposed to) Ø Air conditioning is cold Ø Steering is tight Ø Brakes stop the car fast with no vibrations or unwelcome noises. Front brake pads have 80% pad life remaining. The rear brakes have 60% pad life remaining. Ø The Goodyear Eagle RS-A V Speed Rated Tires have 90% tread remaining up front and 70% in the rear. Recent Maintenance Performed: Ø Oil and filter just changed with Motorcraft 5w20 semi synthetic oil and a new Motorcraft oil filter Ø Transmission fluid just flushed with mercon V fluid Ø Tires balanced Ø Four wheel alignment I have driven this car over 1400 miles. It is in excellent condition. The only problem to speak of is the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) light comes on from time to time. I took it by Ford and they could not get the light to come on. They told me that it is probably an intermittent fault with one of the pressure sensors in one of the wheels. It does not affect the drivability of the car at all. That light comes on to let you know one of your tires is low on air. They are all at 35 PSI. If you prefer the small ford center caps instead of the full size hubcaps we will swap them out for you at no charge. Shipping/Pick Up: Fly in and drive it home.
