1981 CORVETTE ** UNRESTORED HIGHLY ORIGINAL BEST COLOR COMBO!! HISTORY OF CHEVROLET AND CORVETTE Chevrolet Motor Company was incorporated on November 3, 1911. It is the most popular name plate in the world. Chevrolet has stood the test of time.......100 years This is the celebration year and Chevrolet buyers the world over are adding to their collections. The company's namesake, Louis Joseph Chevrolet, was born in in LaChaux-de-Fonds Switzerland on Christmas day, 1878. His family was so poor he received little formal education. He found work in a wine cellar and taught himself to repair motor bikes and eventually became an auto mechanic. He came to the United States and began a career as a dare devil race car driver. He left Chevrolet two years after production began. He was a complete failure and worked as a line mechanic from 1934 to 1938 and died on June 6, 1941. Chevrolet history is more colorful than a city of neon lights. The company was the dream of wild men like William Crapo "Billy" Durant and so many others. From simple prototypes to the greatest of the greats. As American as baseball, hot dogs, apple pie......Chevrolet...... the car we all grew up with. Corvette, the dream machine. In the early 50's, it was only a designer's dream. Today, the Corvette still has unmistakable charisma and inspires excitement like no other car. Always....unique, highly styled and powerful it is the most celebrated sports car in the world. With 50 years of experience under it' belt, it just gets better and better. Older Vettes become more collectable each and every year. They are and always will be an excellent investment. THIS 1981 CORVETTE I will walk you around this car inside and out with pictures, opinions and evaluations. It is a fine motor car and has had just two owners, a father and his son. The son owned it since 2006. It has had excellent care and it runs, drives, handles and performs well. There are no strange noises or vibrations. It is powerful and quick. The exhaust has a commanding pleasant rumble. It is completely ready to drive. It was all about opening the hood to capture the stares and answer the questions of onlookers for the previous owner. The engine and engine compartment is spotless and detailed to the max. It is well dressed and showy, yet dignified. A prize by anyone’s standard. There just is not a better color combination, bright white on the outside with red accents. The hood striping stops people in their tracks. The black accents including the tires, trim and air scoops along with the red interior climaxes the look. Everyone notices this car. This is not a restored car, yet with its few imperfections it stands as tall as cars costing much, much more. Very few unrestored 30-year-old cars look as good as this one. The optional polished aluminum wheels are in excellent condition. The fit is very good. The doors open and close properly, as do the headlight doors. The tops do not leak and the seals look like new. All of the rubber seals are very good to excellent. The power windows operate just like they should and fit properly. The door skins are clean and carry the look of an almost new car. There is no paint on the tags, hinges or door seals. The interior is in very good condition. The carpets are not torn or soiled. The rear storage areas are perfectly clean. What is behind the seats is always an indicator of the cars overall condition. There is zero deterioration here. Everything is in place and clean as a whistle. The original jack is still there attached to its original hold-down. The top straps and spring loaded storage cover are like brand new. Place your valuables and finest articles of clothing here. This is a carefully maintained automobile. The seats are in excellent condition. There are no tears or areas that need attention. The backs are not cracked. The center console on almost every one of these cars is either broken or cracked. Not on this one, it is in very good condition. The door pads fit and fit exactly right. Replacement pads never fit right even on professionally restored cars. These are original. They are in very good condition. The seat belts function properly and are clean. The dash and all of the gauges are clean, bright with no scratches. All of the gauges work. The lighter has never been used. The sun visors are clean and look near new. This is a well optioned car including power seat, convex mirror, tilt-telescoping wheel, cruise control and air conditioning. Unrestored, unmolested, highly original cars are the best value. There seems to be no in between with restorers. Too many cars are not really restored, just the ugly parts covered up or......... they become works of art that are just too expensive and perfect to drive. The fit and finish is far superior to what the manufacturers offered. Someone coined the phrase, 'trailer queens'. It is much better to use Jay Leno's thinking. Drive and enjoy a classic. Experience the fun of what is was like - back in the day. This is an opportunity to own the last of the best. 1982 was the pits with its dreadful crossfire engine. There were no Corvettes manufactured in 1983. The car is priced below the NADA average selling price of $15,000. Bid with confidence.
