Vehicle Detail

1967 Modified Mustang Fastback Thanks for bidding on my dream car. I have wanted this car for years and finally built it exactly as I wanted it. Un-fortunately, because of a down turn in my business, I am reluctantly listing it for sale. This is originally a Candy Apple Red, “A” Code 289 4 Barrel car, Vin # 7T02A198394. Having had numerous high performance Fords, I have many contacts for Ford parts and utilized them all as I wanted to have the very best quality in everything I replaced and reworked. When I bought the car 3 years ago it had a 351 engine with a cracked piston. I purchased a 1969 428 Cobra Jet engine and had the local FE expert shot peen the block, re-build it to factory specs, balance & blue print it. This includes C8OE-8090-N heads with 9E-17 & 18 build dates. I have installed an oversized aluminum radiator & incorporate both a 7” flex fan & a switched electric fan mounted in front of the radiator for those long stop lights & occasional parade runs. 428 CJ’s tend to get a little warm in parades. I located a Ford 427 Dual 4 Barrel Aluminum Intake Manifold and had two 650cfm double pumper carburetors built to factory specs for a dual quad set-up then had them finished in polished aluminum. They are fed with 3/8” stainless steel fuel line from the tank running through a Cobra Jet fuel pump. The carbs are set up on progressive linkage, so it gets reasonable mileage and performance when driven around town, but when you stand on it, you get all 1,300 cubic feet per minute of fuel for maximum fun. The wide ratio 4 speed Top Loader was completely re-built with parts from “Dan Williams Top Loader” out of North Carolina and all the power runs through a new 11 inch Center Force competition clutch & pressure plate. The ignition is a “zero vacuum” Accell mechanical advance dual point distributer, Accell Super Coil and Taylor plug wires, enabling immediate response any time you jump on it. I also installed powder coated Hooker Super Comp headers that are routed all the way back through Flow-Master Super 44 mufflers. There are torque boxes as well as full sub frame connectors welded in. Jim’s Drive Train built the drive shaft and installed a safety loop on the chassis. This runs back to a 1967 9 inch “N” Code nodular rear end with 3.70 gears and a possi-traction center assembly with 31 spline axles, along with chrome traction bars to help get the tires to hook up. The car has new Big Block springs and front disc brakes from a 1970 Mach 1. It has a full set of new shocks and currently has a pair of new air shocks installed on the rear for required clearance for the back tires. I purchased a new set of Magnum 500 wheels, 15 X 7 for the front & 15 X 8 for the rear. They have new BF Goodrich radial TA’s mounted on them, 235/65/15 front & 255/55/15 rear. The interior sports a set of high back bucket seats out of a 70 Mach 1 with new seat covers for both the front & back seats, 70’s matching vented vinyl, as well as new carpet. Fold down rear seats as well as the trap door back into the trunk and a center floor console round out the 70’s look. The gear shift features a “T” handle Hurst Competition Shifter. The body of the car includes an original 70 Mach 1 fiberglass hood scoop. A 2-part epoxy weld was used to smooth out the scoop so it looks like the entire hood is formed as one piece. The front & rear fender extensions are also welded on with a 2 part epoxy then covered with sheets of Kevlar for strength and to insure they will never crack. Dual Ford racing mirrors add to the sleek fast look as does the “Viper Red” paint and gloss black stripes. I have over $60,000 and 3 years invested in this project. This isn’t a numbers matching car by any means but I achieved my goal to build a beautiful car that is my idea of what Ford would have done had they built a Mach 1 in 1967. I bought the very best parts available and can ensure it’s a no rust, zero bondo car. If you want the best looking, jaw dropping, head turning Mustang Fastback in town, with the performance and sound to boot, then this is your car!
