Vehicle Detail

I purchased the car five years ago. The previous owner had removed the motor and had it rebuilt but was moving and never re-installed it. All motor parts came from Don Thibault including new pistons. A local Boise machine shop did the overhaul. Prior to installing the motor I replaced the clutch, resurfaced the flywheel and balanced the drive shaft. The car has less than 1000 miles since I put it back together in the spring of 2007. I drive it occasionally for enjoyment. The overdrive light indicates the OD is engaged and disengages with the switch. Original leather luggage straps and seat belts are present. I drove the car yesterday for the first time in several months and it started fine however the speedometer stopped working after a few miles. I did replace the cable when I installed the motor. Boise is high desert dry and hot in the summer. I suspect the heat of in my garage dried out the speedometer. This happened a year ago and I replaced the "shear" pin where the cable attaches to the transmission. I have an extra that I will include with the car. I would suggest the 17,000 odometer reading is 117,000 Car has been garaged since my purchase. It also easily qualified for Hagerty Classic Car Insurance last year. I believe the premium is around $100 a year including collision and towing Technical Information: Chassis # 24643 Production Code 183451 M VIN#183451024603 I have also completed the following work: Radiator RR for cleaning and painting R&R gas tank for cleaning 4 new tires, rims painted Replace front windshield Covered both upper and lower dashes (parts from IPD) Sent water temp/oil temp gauge for rebuild (capillary tubes were cut by previous owner) Replaced SU carbs with Weber downdraft Replaced brake booster (new not a rebuilt) Rebuilt front brake calipers (including new pistons) Recover front seats including web supports The headliner is fine and the carpet while worn on the driver’s side is original. I replaced the aftermarket radio with an authentic Volvo radio and added an FM convertor. I have seen several of these cars where speakers were mounted in cut outs in the rear of the car. This has not been done, retaining the original integrity of the car. I removed a box with speakers sitting on the rear shelf when I installed the Volvo radio. Wires for rear speakers are still there. I will also include a dealer option Fridgeking under dash AC unit complete except for the compressor that I purchased to install on the car. My plans were to use a Sanden rotary compressor instead of the inefficient York. Included is a complete set of Volvo factory manuals that I copied from the VSA website. The history on the car (from previous owner) indicates it has been in Idaho thus the minimal rust. The paint is original, light green ,code 91, except for some touch up spraying by the previous owner on surface rust and the nose of the car and left front fender. If you have researched these cars you are aware they are prone to rust. Idaho’s dry, high desert climate has been kind to this car. The areas behind the wheels (see pictures) have small pockets that would best be repaired with replacement panels ($65 @) There is a small area of rust on the RR wheel well in the trunk (see picture). The nose of the car has a small area that appears to have had some minor repair . The body is straight with no signs of accident or repair except as noted. The car is an excellent candidate for cosmetic restoration to complete the mechanical work or could be a reliable daily driver. I had hopes of continuing the restoration but am actively looking for a Mercedes diesel powered G Class SUV to use on my fishing expeditions. We presently own 4 cars and I just do not drive the car enough to justify keeping when I find my G class Mercedes. I have described the car to the best of my ability and will welcome and post all questions during the auction. It is a 45 year old vehicle and will be sold without warranty. I get kudos every time I drive the car, asking what year and what kind of car is it. I live in Boise and only know of three of these cars on the road. On Sep-28-11 at 06:40:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I responded to an inquiry this morning about the Tach/overdrive and forgot to click the box to include the question/response. The reader asked if RPMs drop when the OD is engaged. The tach reads just below 1000RPMs at idle and 3K-4K in 4th gear before engaging the OD. With OD engaged (light on) the tach momentarily drops to 0 then resumes a similar reading . I have checked solenoid function and it clicks loudly when engaged . I suspect the tach is in need of calibration ( 3K at 40mph without OD seems high to me). On Oct-01-11 at 10:03:34 PDT, seller added the following information:I have a couple of questions regarding shipping the car. I'm happy to work with your shipper to arrange pick up of the vehicle in the greater Boise area.
