Vehicle Detail

To all bidders; this is an absolutely gorgeous Rolls-Royce in wonderful condition and presentation. But please, understand it is also 31 years old. It is not brand new. Please read the terms & conditions before bidding. ~~oo00oo~~ ~~oo00oo~~ _Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II_ 1980 _Rare Fuel Injection Model!_Celebrity owned - see below* Here is an especially fine and very original example of a Silver Wraith II. It is the rare fuel injection model built specifically and only for the Californian market. These were only built in 1980 – the last year of the Silver Shadow model run. This one is production number 41,175C making it one of the last of the Silver Wraith IIs ever built – the “C” suffix is for California fuel injection model. It is finished in original Masons black with its hand-painted cream fine lines to the waist-rail. The interior is stunning all through-out black with the Connolly hides sporting cream coloured piping. This is a very clean and unmolested example that has clearly been lovingly maintained all its life. It is totally original with no modifications. It still sports its factory original Blaupunkt "blue-dot" push-button radio and the Pioneer cassette player was a factory option only available in the 1980 series. A pampered example, having lived all its life on the West coast in a garaged environment, it has been freed from the perils of harsh weather. It has always been well maintained and serviced and comes with its original manual and tools. It even has its original factory “Yale” keys. The Silver Wraith II presented here has been recently fully work-shop inspected with all work needed carried out. Important costly items such as the hydraulics and brakes have been fully checked and serviced. Electricals have all been gone through to ensure everything is in excellent working order (windows, seats, lights etc). It is ready to drive and enjoy. The odometer shows a low 67,000 miles and although not verifiable they appear so, and as clearly pampered ones. The car drives straight and true with the fuel injection version offering added engine and driving smoothness. The interior looks close to perfect. The black leather is in absolutely outstanding original condition with no cracks, tears nor wear and remains very supple and soft – true to its Connolly characteristics – and can be truly described as excellent if not perfect. Even the driver seat shows like new. The leather has been recently lightly re-Connolised which is a hand rubbing technique that brings the leather back to life and it looks stunningly handsome! The burr walnut wood finishes on all doors, dash, vanity mirrors and rear window surrounds have just been redone by expert RR wood-refinishers; JC Wood & Co. – they can only be described as flawless. The broadcloth wool head lining is original and in good condition. The black Westminster carpets are in perfect condition (not a single wear-mark or stain). The boot (trunk) carpet, also finished in the all over black theme, is similarly in good condition. The body on this Wraith II is straight and the paint is shiny and lustrous. The car had some areas repainted over the years but a lot of the car panels remain original. This is amazing to still see on a Rolls-Royce of this vintage. It has only the odd and subtle marks from mild use with some minor blemishes here and there, as you would expect, but it is overall consistent, still remains shiny & crisp and presents very, very nicely – certainly, well above average. The Everflex vinyl top is also original and in good condition. Tyres are Michelin Xs which are impossible to find these days. They have plenty of tread and are great from a “display” and “originality” point of view but due to their age, probably would need to be changed for everyday driving. The hubcaps, unique to the Wraith II, are excellent with no dents or imperfections. All remaining bright-work is in good condition as is glass, electrics, instruments and features & functions. All electrics have been checked right down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. The typical “slow window” syndrome synonomous of the model has been repaired and so all windows operate well. Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has not been precision detailed for selling but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its life. You must take the time to look at the photos of the engine bay as its presentation is like that of a new example. Simply stunning! The car is of very high standard and is an easy 9 out of 10 rating. Although not a show car by definition, it is not far off. ~~ This stately Silver Wraith II is an excellent condition representation of the marque that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. It makes for an excellent driver or point of discussion at your next Rolls-Royce meet! ~~ * Celebrity owned. It was purported by the previous owner that this car was originally owned my Michael Jackson's mother; Katherine Esther Jackson - (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katherine_Jackson). We are currently verifying this but cannot confirm at the time of listing. Notwithstanding, please understand the car is being offered on its own merits as a uniquely excellent condition example. Whether Jackson owned or not, this car is an extremely high quality example and is priced accordingly. Interesting information on the Wraith II - The “Wraith II” mark provided considerable improvement over the earlier Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base. In 1977, the long wheel base cars were renamed the Silver Wraith II in recognition of several major changes, most notably rack and pinion steering, modifications to the front suspension which improved handling markedly, a dual exhaust along with the first-to-market fully automatic dual system air-conditioning system and a modernised and improved dash lay-out. The model represents the pinnacle in design features for the Silver Shadow series that started production in 1966. Although licensed and bonded, I am not a main-stream retail car dealer or broker; I am a professional car collector of some 30 years with considerable experience and knowledge of Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with the marque which I take seriously. I take a lot of pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. However, auctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer, and you are the winning bidder, please understand you have entered a binding contract. You cannot bid and win the auction and expect not to meet the terms and conditions. Bidding and/or winning does not mean you are expecting me to “hold” the car until you have the opportunity to inspect it. Any inspection contemplated should be undertaken BEFORE you bid or make an offer and I openly welcome any potential buyer to come and personally inspect the car. Once you bid or make an offer, you are doing so to buy WITHOUT conditions. A $2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) is required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. All payments are non-refundable. Payments as described above form an important part of this purchase contract and so, if all the funds are not received as outlined above, I reserve the right to terminate the transaction without notice. If there has been any deposit or other part payments received and I elect to terminate the contract, I reserve the right to keep any such deposits or payments and resell the vehicle to another bidder or interested party or re-list the vehicle at any time. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements on a national and worldwide basis but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his cost. As a collector and experienced restorer of the marque, I make every effort to bring my cars to a very high standard. Unless specifically stated, the car is not of show standard but of good quality "driver" condition. Please understand, the very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it is not always possible to attend to every single item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked an item. Please note, fitted radio/stereo systems are usually subject to upgrade by purchasers so I do not ensure operation of these. Similarly, cruise control systems fitted to these classics were of an inferior design and I do not check or warrant the operation of these. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 34 years old. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be responsible for errors in description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, unforeseen imperfection, defect or damage. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, the mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. In this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown. I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility for any additional costs including storage, transportation, or repair after the close of the auction. Whereas I am happy to store the car in excess of 30 days from auction end, a cost of $35 per day shall apply beyond 30 days of auction end. Also, you must remember that this is a classic +/-34 year old vehicle, and while it is up to you, I do not recommend that you just “hop in and drive it across the country”. At least, I have never done that. I have always professionally transported the cars in enclosed carriers from where I bought them to my home. PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS, DO NOT BID AS, RESPECTFULLY, THERE CAN BE NO EXCEPTIONS. ~~oo00oo~~ ~~ **Please note: This Rolls-Royce is part of the collection of the Park-Ward Motor Museum. As a professional collector and experienced restorer, I have my own Rolls-Royce dedicated workshop with qualified craftsmen on hand. As a passionate collector of the marque I take great pride and pleasure in passing on any of my cars to its next owner (“caretaker”). In so doing, once this Rolls-Royce is sold, I will put the car back thru my workshop to ensure that it is mechanically sound and all major features and functions are operating as described even though the car is contractually being sold "as-is". Certain items such as final electrical tests and hydraulic pressure checks are usually left for this stage as these are considered "commissioning procedures". This and considerable other work will be performed after the sale and before delivery to ensure the car is in excellent order. This is all done at NO CHARGE. Who else selling a Rolls-Royce on eBay does this?! This provides the buyer the peace of mind to purchase with complete confidence. Depending on our work load, please allow approximately 7-10 business days for this procedure. For more information on the Park-Ward Motor Museum and our skills, please go to www.park-ward.com - make sure you click on the "Photo Gallery" tab to see some 50 Rolls-Royces restored to varying levels over the last few years. ~~
