I purchased this vehicle as a new car from Continental Cars, Clayton, MO (near St. Louis) in January, 1981. It was the last MG Midget they sold before closing the dealership, and had previously been used as a demonstrator. I drove it infrequently until approximately December, 1991 accumulating a total of 15,200 miles. It has never been driven in snow, salt or rain since I have owned it. It has been in dry storage since 1991 including a length of time in a local museum. The cosmetic condition is good with only small imperfections as one might expect from it's present mileage. The rubber bumpers are in good condition and are not dried out. The top, top cover used when it is lowered, and the tonneau cover are all in very good condition. The rear window is slightly cloudy, but is still soft and pliable. The tires are original. Door, hood, and trunk gaps are as original. The trunk lid sits a bit high in the front as purchased, but could be adjusted. The original sales contract lists the following optional equipment: Radio Luggage Rack Trim Rings Side Stripes Tuned Exhaust (Ansa) It also had the Nardi steering wheel when I purchased it. I added the headlight stone guards and tonneau cover, neither of which required any modifications for installation. The drivers' handbook and it's plastic sleeve are in excellent condition. Mechanically, the buyer should expect to do some mechanical reconditioning after the long period of storage. The last time it was driven was during the summer of 2008, when I drove it approximately one mile home from the local museum after it's closing. At that time, it was difficult to start and it has only been started twice since, once last summer and after bringing it home from storage this year. When started this year, the radiator was leaking profusely. A new radiator has been installed, and the water pump was checked at that time. Although it won't start, the engine turns over without making any unexpected noises and the oil pressure light goes out. There is a strong odor of fuel which may indicate a carburetor problem. I am selling this vehicle in "as is" condition. It is for sale to buyers in the USA only. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.
