Vehicle Detail
This Eldorado is a very nice car, the two tone tan and grey interior is clean and in much better shape than a lot of Eldos I`ve seen that are much newer. The front seats are heated, and work well. The paint is a Polo Green Metallic that is so dark it looks black in low light and shadow. It has a few dings and small flaws here and there, but overall it is a beautiful car. I have always kept it garaged, and the guy I got it from had also, apparently most of it`s life has been kept out of the sun. The windshield was replaced with a new one as it would not pass the Mo. Safety inspection without it. Everything else passed. The tires have a lot of life left. The chrome wheels are in good shape, but the plastic centers need replacement. I love the feel of this car. I rides like a cloud, gets good mileage, and yet has lots of power. Mechanically, the Northstar Motor starts and runs perfectly, but it has stalled and forced me to pull over and wait a few minutes before it will restart. I have spent a considerable sum on parts and labor trying to eliminate this problem, but I don`t believe I have fixed it yet. Although it has not done it lately, I don`t trust that it will not happen in a place that is not safe to pull over, so I don`t trust it, don`t drive it far, and don`t have the time, the money, or the inclination to persue it further. I bought this car thinking that I could fix the little things wrong with it and have myself a classy ride for a small investment, but I have already blown my limit on it. The only light that was on when I got it was "service ride control", which meant some new struts in front, the back ones are ok. It rides just fine to me, so I put that off. I had to replace a bad brake line, so I replaced them all. The ABS light has been on ever since. I think the lines have not been bled properly, but the brakes work well. Also, during that process, the " traction control disabled" light came on. Just the other day, a new light showed up saying to "change the transmission fluid". As soon as that light came on, the " check engine" light also came on. I have replaced the BOSE Radio/CD/Cassette unit with one that was guaranteed good, but now I`m told that the radio problem is "somewhere else". The latest problem that has come up is the AC has quit blowing cold. Who knows, maybe it needs freon. I give up! I would like to recover about half of this bad investment, and hope that the next proud owner starts where I am leaving off where I thought I started.....with " just a little more work left to do"!
