Re: 1956 Continental MK II DISCLOSURE: My husband and I are selling this beautiful car because I just inherited it and really have no need for it. We love the way it looks and had considered keeping it but we do not have the commitment that a car of this caliber requires and so we believe it would be better left to someone who really knows the value of these rare cars and can truly appreciate it. It is a special vehicle, and we have been told that this car is an excellent candidate for restoring for show as it is so rust free (Please see numerous pictures of underside and floor pans, gas tank, trunk floor, rear fender wells, frame, etc.) Please note the absence of new undercoating or black spray paint that so many sellers have put on to hide things. We wanted everyone to see how original it is underneath with only surface rust on unprotected surfaces (frame etc). I am telling you everything we know about this car from start to finish and we will let the market decide its value. We have not advertised the car but we do reserve the right to sell it to the first reasonable cash offer. We are not "ebayers", and we do not want to play games with people who are not serious about purchasing this nice old car, so please read and abide by the terms of our auction for a smooth transaction, Thankyou. It will be sold to the highest bidder or first reasonable cash offer, so if you have a serious figure in mind by knowing what these are worth and by reading this description, then feel free to call us at 740)390-3600. Potential buyers are welcome to come and see the vehicle on site. Please do not call to ask personal questions or a lot of questions that have already been answered in the listing, we are not trying to get top dollar- we just want to sell it before we change our minds. Car is sold as is where is- no exceptions. I have clean clear Ohio title, ready to notarize over to you. Thank you for your consideration, Heather Decker. DESCRIPTION: This 1956 Continental MK II was purchased by my brother in I believe 2007, a lady in Florida had owned it and it was a daily driver when he got it. This one is a rare find It was appraised at $43,000. in 2007 by the bank. It is very rust free and straight. (Please see pictures of frame underside and fenderwells). It was an older restoration, and he used to have a classic restoration business in Los Angeles, California for several years and was confident that it was very sound. (Please see numerous pictures of under carriage and doors that we had taken). He immediately stored it in his temperature controlled warehouse, put it up on blocks, drained the gas tank, treated the interior and exterior, and covered the seats with flannel sheets and covered the car with its own yellow custom cover. (It comes with the car). An auxiliary gas tank was hooked up from time to time so that the car could be started on a regular basis. He purchased it for his private collection and had planned to fully restore it again but never got the chance. This is how we received the car and the pictures you see are right out of storage with no detailing. We simply had it wiped off inside and out! The vehicle started right up with no issues and drove around the complex. The brakes are hard, it does not seem to want to stop, so the emergency brake was employed and it worked although our mechanic said it needs adjustment to be tighter so that it works properly. He only drove it slowly so he did not have to use the brakes really. None the less, it will definitely will need attention to the brakes as they do not stop the car. He thinks it is a brake booster problem? Brake fluid was up. The engine starts and runs well with no smoke or internal noise and it has new mufflers. (we have been told that the engine looks to have been rebuilt as you can still see the new stickers, and brand names on the belts and hoses). New gasket materials are obvious, and it looks like a new water pump has been put on. The radiator is clean too. It has the original vacumn canister but no air cleaner. It may be in the trunk as the key we have does not seem to want to open it and so we cannot see. (I do have a photocopy picture of the trunk when it was purchased. It is rust free as well as there was no carpet in it, just metal). The transmission shifted into drive fine but does not want to go in reverse. The fluid is clean and the mechanic thinks it is probably from not being driven these last several years (maybe a sticking valve body)? The suspension looks like it has had new parts put on and it was tight when he drove it. The beautiful white wall tires look like they are near new. Hubcaps are non original. The power windows work and the glass is good except for the drivers window bottom has a couple of cracks and there are a few chips in windshield. The car looks great at 30 feet and the chrome is shiny. The paint needs attention as it was an older restoration, and in our opinion it should be repainted. It looks very nice though until you get up close and see the small cracking and fading from the years. It does not have any major dents or dings and the chrome looks nice. All of this is probably here nor there as it will probably be restored to show. The interior is gorgeous and it seems like it was barely used. It really looks new!(Please see all of the pictures) as this is the best description. All of the knobs appear to be present and the radio is original we believe. The doors are exceptionally clean (note the original heavy chrome and underside plastic) with no discernable rust. This car is a largely rust free, rare condition, older restoration classic that has since been stored and needs some tlc to be put back in daily driving shape but is tremendously sound, (again see pictures). This is no longer a daily driver so do not expect to come and drive it away. I'm sure you will have it transported anyway, as anyone who buys these cars knows they are rare and probably will not use it daily anyway. Our insurance does not cover other drivers so no test drives are permitted, but car can be started for inspection. It is an excellent candidate for restoring for show or for an investment, as it is so sound. Thankyou for your consideration and feel free to call to make an offer or appointment to see the vehicle. 740)390-3600. TERMS OF SALE: We want to sell this vehicle with no problems or games so these are our terms. I have a free clear Ohio title in my name ready to notarize over to the new buyer. I will also have a bill of sale with the selling price for both of us to sign. We require a 25% deposit within 24 hours of auction end, cash or bank transfer and the remainder shall be paid within 3 days. We can store the vehicle for longer at no charge if terms are mutually agreed upon. Including your responsibility and insurance. We can also help arrange transport if needed. Special note- if car fax is run you will see transfers during the last several years- these were for purposes of my brothers' bank requirements as he used this car as an investment in his businesses. It was appraised and loaned at $43,000. in 2007. (Of course since satisfied). I have clear title in my name only-no liens. Title transfers include from my brothers' dealership to himself-to a business partner whom he had power of attorney-to bank-to himself, etc. The car was stored and never driven on public roads during this time. There is a gentleman in California that can give complete history of this classic since it was made in 1956 (I'm sure for a price) and we will give his name and # to the purchaser. This is all we know about this beautiful car so thank you again. The Deckers.
